I just saw this. A dying cardinal in northern Italy contends that the Catholic Church is behind the times. I sensed this when I was a teenager. I believe, and can verbalize this, as an adult. Having frustrated nuns telling kids that they were intrinsically bad, and "proving" it with the ruler over the knuckles, was warped. My own ethical and moral compass could tell me that, even back then!
It does not mean the situation is broken. If anything, testimonies such as this are an impetus for a "fix." Interesting read.
