There is a great lesson contained in the thirteenth chapter of Ezekiel...especially for these end times! Oddly, or perhaps it isn't at all odd...the number thirteen carries the meaning...Apostasy; Depravity and Rebellion. You will see those actions contained in this thirteenth chapter.

Ezekiel 13:1-5 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel that prophesy, and say thou unto them that prophesy out of their own hearts, Hear ye the word of the LORD; Thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing! O Israel, thy prophets are like the foxes in the deserts. Ye have not gone up into the gaps, neither made up the hedge for the house of Israel to stand in the battle in the day of the LORD.
As Ezekiel was a "son of man," we too are sons of man. We too are to prophesy against the false prophets, those that stand lying in this house of Israel today. They speak falsely and leave us unprepared for the great battle...a battle in which we will all stand. They speak words of "their own spirit" but we are to "hear ye the WORD OF THE LORD," not the word of man.

13:6-8 They have seen vanity and lying divination, saying, The LORD saith: and the LORD hath not sent them: and they have made others to hope that they would confirm the word. Have ye not seen a vain vision, and have ye not spoken a lying divination, whereas ye say, The LORD saith it; albeit I have not spoken? Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because ye have spoken vanity, and seen lies, therefore, behold, I am against you, saith the Lord GOD.
Were they the ones that thought of this lie? No, but they continue teaching it as if it was written...it is not written for it is "a vain vision," and He did not speak it! How many listen to the false prophets instead of seeing what He spoke?

13:10-11 Because, even because they have seduced My people, saying, Peace; and there was no peace; and one built up a wall, and, lo, others daubed it with untempered morter: Say unto them which daub it with untempered morter, that it shall fall: there shall be an overflowing shower; and ye, O great hailstones, shall fall; and a stormy wind shall rend it.
The great hailstones ARE the false prophets! They lie, deceive, seduce His children....us. How? By preaching peace..when there is no peace. What does "peace" mean in that usage?
Peace # 7965 shalowm ~ from 7999: safe, well, happy, friendly, also (abstr) welfare, i.e. health, prosperity, peace, favour, friend, great, good health, perfect, peace(able, ably) prosper, rest, safe(ty), salute, welfare, well, wholly.

Safe, healthy, happy. They teach we will all be safe, at peace (when there is no peace!) At peace/safe from what? We are seduced by liars telling us we will be safe/at peace from what? What do they teach (out of their own vain imaginations) that don't prepare us to stand in that great day of battle?

13:14-16 So will I break down the wall that ye have daubed with untempered morter, and bring it down to the ground, so that the foundation thereof shall be discovered, and it shall fall, and ye shall be consumed in the midst thereof: and ye shall know that I am the LORD. Thus will I accomplish my wrath upon the wall, and upon them that have daubed it with untempered morter, and will say unto you, The wall is no more, neither they that daubed it; To wit, the prophets of Israel which prophesy concerning Jerusalem, and which see visions of peace for her, and there is no peace, saith the Lord GOD.
Please understand that Jerusalem is God's holy city. A literal city? No...this speaks about us for we are His city. The false prophets prophesy to and about us falsely saying we will be safe but our Father tells us..."there is no peace," or...there is no safety as they are teaching.

The foundation of the lie "shall be discovered." The foundation of the lie that will be revealed is "a liar and the father of it," [John 8:44]. He is....
11 Thessalonians 2:3-4 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

We're told that there will be false prophets among us...teaching lies and the foundation of those lies is...the son of perdition. Although he raised that wall keeping us from the Lord, there are the false prophets that "daub it with untempered mortar," keeping it standing through the years and they too shall fall. What is the wall, the lie he seduces God's children with? What is the lie of peace/safety that takes down our hedge of protection in the day of battle? God not only allows this lie but He sends the delusion. Even though we know none of us have all the truth, we must have love of the truth or.....
11 Thessalonians 2:10-12 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Ezekiel 13:17-19 Likewise, thou son of man, set thy face against the daughters of thy people, which prophesy out of their own heart; and prophesy thou against them, And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the (women) that sew pillows to all armholes, and make kerchiefs upon the head of every stature to hunt souls! Will ye hunt the souls of My people, and will ye save the souls alive that come unto you? And will ye pollute Me among My people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, to slay the souls that should not die, and to save the souls alive that should not live, by your lying to My people that hear your lies?
Why did the chapter suddenly switch from warning of the false prophets teaching lies to daughters and women sewing? It didn't switch. These are the same false prophets...those that "hunt souls" with their lies.

In the above passage it is written, "Woe to the women that sew pillows." The word women was added and should be discarded. Strangely, the translators continued blaming the ladies, much as Adam blamed Eve. Or, perhaps women was added before they decided to place "daughters" in that sentence. In Hebrew the word daughters in the text is "Ben," and the translators chose "daughters" to fill the meaning. Why? In the Strong's, daughters in that verse, is one description chosen from the following possibilities....
Ben #1121 ~ bane; from 1129, a son (as a builder of the family name), in the widest sense (of lit. and fig. relationship, incl. grandson, subject, nation, quality or condition, etc, afflicted, age, anointed one, appointed to, Assyr. Babylon, Etypt, Grecian, one born, bough, branch, breed + young bullock, calf, colt, daughter, firstborn, foal, very fruitful, man, meet, mighty, nephew, people, servant born, soldier, son, spark, steward, worth, child, son young(one), youth.

Funny...in one place in all of the above is any mention showing feminine gender...daughter. For the translation of "Ben" they chose to use daughter instead of "son, grandson, firstborn, man, nephew, soldier, steward." I wonder if the movie "Ben-Hur" ever makes anyone consider him as being a female head of his house?

To give them the benefit of the doubt, perhaps daughters was chosen because of the fact that these liars are "sewing pillows." However, men sew...as did the tent maker by trade...Paul. In this case though, neither the pillows nor the sewing is literal. There is no gender in the sewing going on here. The sewing being done "pollutes" His Word with lies. It keeps souls from Him for "handfuls of barley and pieces of bread." Do the Left Behind books come to mind? Is Tim Lahaye among those stiching away, promising peace/safety?

These daughters/women sewing pillows are the same false prophets (male and female) He warns us of, those teaching lies of peace/safety. The pillows they sew conceal His truth, they overwhelm those that listen.....
Pillows #3704 ~ from 3680, a cushion or pillow (as covering a seat or bed): 3680 ~ to plump, i.e. fill up hollows, by impl. to cover (for clothing or secrecy) clad self, close, clothe, conceal cover, hide, overwhelm.

13:20-24 Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against your pillows, wherewith ye there hunt the souls to make them fly, and I will tear them from your arms, and will let the souls go, even the souls that ye hunt to make them fly. Your kerchiefs also will I tear, and deliver My people out of your hand, and they shall be no more in your hand to be hunted; and ye shall know that I am the LORD. Because with lies ye have made the heart of the righteous sad, whom I have not made sad; and strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, by promising him life: Therefore ye shall see no more vanity, nor divine divinations: for I will deliver My people out of your hand: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
A kerchief is a vail. A vail of deception they spread over us....
Isaiah 25:7 And He will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations.

So to answer the above question, "what do the false prophets teach that don't prepare us to stand in that great day of battle? " They teach we won't be here for that day of battle. We'll be raptured away, flown to peace, safety, happiness, tranquility. Do you believe them? Do you believe the lie, the strong delusion? Are our minds covered with a vail...the promise of life, of peace....when there is no peace?

We must first stand in that great day. We will be here. The apostasy, rebellion and depravity, which is symbolized by the number thirteen, is clearly shown in this thirteenth chapter. Will we fall into apostasy by believing the lie?

I believe the concept you are getting at, we are called to stand our ground concerning what we believe. We are not called to wish to be whisked away from what we must endure.

From my point of view there is also another misrepresentation that we should over come. I do not write this making an accusation to you, only pointing out what I have come to realize in my life. This battle is not something we are to wait on, it is not a religious charge that we will be given, it is a battle that is given lip service and that includes myself.

The battle is to love our enemies and to bless those who curse us.

It is easy to think we do that, we can believe we are praying for our enemy, but are we? Are we praying to find a way to love them, or are we praying that they change so we can be "wisked" away from having to really love them before they ever become different.

The battle is now and it is waged in our own hearts and to want to be wisked away from having to fight it, will be what spiritually kills us.

We must always stand our ground. The point of [Ezekiel 13] is the lie the false prophets tell. It is very specific about a very specific time.

Again...loving our enemies is something we struggle with at all times. You're right, for it is an ongoing battle. But the battle I write of is another....

We are misled by the false prophets and those lies (of rapture) will cause many to fall "in the day of the Lord."

The way you will know if the Spirit is Christ, is by the fruits: righteousness (the Lord Our Righteousness), Love (God is love), joy, peace (Prince of Peace), comfort (Counselor)..

If we know that God is righteous, then we know that he who does righteously is of God.

Unfortunately, many hirelings, who are no more than wolves in sheep's clothing, are having a field-day with the lambs..

Blessings,
brian

Jesus said in Matthew 5: 9 ....`` Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the Children of God``..... Who are peacemakers? these people don`t judge their neighbours sin and condemn the world of crimes that they may or may not commited. They pray for their enemies and those who presecute them and their righousness, they let Jesus judge the world for them and pray to abase the spirit that brings war and strife....... or the other road of the church of Jesus Christ which is called in Heaven as the martyr side of Jesus Church, Who goes to the world and tries to get the world to change their views for acceptence into Godly ideas and if the world ignores them the Martyr church can Judge the world and condemn the world and run a risk of being martyred. So Lord Jesus loves both the martyrs and HIS peacemakers.....

A thoughtful observation...
Number 13...hmmm...what I have observed is that, this number seems to consistently imply separation in chapters 13 of the 5 books of Moses...the only exception is Leviticus...

In Deuteronomy 13...warning about false prophets...coincidence?

Finally...Revelation 13:18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast:

Just food for thoughts......

You speak of false prophets, you are speaking of yourself.

The Church does not go though the tribulation. The tribulation is for Israel and for the unbelieving world. The Church is not Israel and it does not consist of unbelievers. The Tribulation is the time of Jacob's trouble (Jeremiah 30:7). The Tribulation cannot even begin as long as the Church is on the earth. Though the Holy Spirit who is omnipresent will still be in the world once the Church has been taken into Heaven, His restraining ministry will be lifted when the Church has been removed. Until the restraining ministry of the Holy Spirit is lifted, the antichrist cannot even be made known.

The church-age is terminated when Jesus comes for His bride - the Church, to take her back to Heaven where the judgment seat of Christ will take place. The bride, having been made ready (Rev 19:7-8) then will return to the earth with Christ at the end of the tribulation. The church in Heaven is represented by the 24 elders who are first mentioned in Revelation 4:4.

The church's citizenship is in Heaven. And even now, the church-age believer who is in union with Christ, is positionally seated with Christ at the right hand of the Father.

Philippians 3:20 'For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ; 21] who will transform the body of our humble state into conformity with the body of His glory, by the exertion of the power that He has even to subject all things to Himself.
