Well, I didn't go today, but . . .
Many things caught my attention.
1. G-d as Adonai, the Mighty Warrior. That can really irritate many, but it is never time to recreate Him in our image. He is, after all, omniscient.
2. One idea was regarding the complaint that people through the centuries have had to pay for what was done in Eden. Well, the good news is that while the resulting default is eternal death, those who believe in the Messiah get undeserved eternal life!
3. G-d is sovereign; His judgments are true and just. This is carried out daily in our lives and experiences. When life seems out of control and contrary to our belief in His goodness, remember: His ways are not our ways, His thoughts are not our thoughts. What He will bring to pass will not only work out for His glory, but it will work out for our good.
4. . . and there was more . . . .
Scriptures used were Deut 2:1-3:22; Hab 3:8-19; Rev 19:11-21. Oh yes -- and John 1:1ff, Ezek 18:4, Gen 15 . . . .
That charity is the pure love of Christ and that it "suffereth long, and is kind; [it] envieth not... vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things."
Do not let Satan use your conscience to continue convicting you of past sins that you have repented of and have been forgiven of by God.
I love that! If we can't forgive ourselves after God has forgiven us, we're really not trusting in Christ's atoning sacrifice after all. We're saying, "What you did didn't make a difference."
11 I am the good shepherd. A good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. 12 A hired man, who is not a shepherd and whose sheep are not his own, sees a wolf coming and leaves the sheep and runs away, and the wolf catches and scatters them. 13 This is because he works for pay and has no concern for the sheep. 14 I am the good shepherd, and I know mine and mine know me, 15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I will lay down my life for the sheep. 16 I have other sheep 1 that do not belong to this fold. These also I must lead, and they will hear my voice, and there will be one flock, one shepherd. 17 This is why the Father loves me, because I lay down my life in order to take it up again. 18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down on my own. I have power to lay it down, and power to take it up again. 2 This command I have received from my Father."
That we don't use prayer as the last ditch effort to solve problems in our life, rid our conscience of guilt over our sins.
God forgives us freely despite our failures and that no efforts, no works, no obedience to the law will rid the guily condemnation verdict of their sin.
For God doesn't require nothing more than .. "ask, and you will recieve"
So the Christian does just that ... asks for forgiveness and we will receive forgiveness by faith. That is God's revealed promise.
