Daniel 9:24-27

New King James Version (NKJV)

24 “Seventy weeks[a] are determined
For your people and for your holy city,
To finish the transgression,
To make an end of[b] sins,
To make reconciliation for iniquity,
To bring in everlasting righteousness,
To seal up vision and prophecy,
And to anoint the Most Holy.

25 “Know therefore and understand,
That from the going forth of the command
To restore and build Jerusalem
Until Messiah the Prince,
There shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks;
The street[c] shall be built again, and the wall,[d]
Even in troublesome times.

26 “And after the sixty-two weeks
Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself;
And the people of the prince who is to come
Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary.
The end of it shall be with a flood,
And till the end of the war desolations are determined.

27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week;
But in the middle of the week
He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering.
And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate,
Even until the consummation, which is determined,
Is poured out on the desolate.”

-Where in these verses do people get a 7yr tribulation from, I cant find a 7yr tribulation anywhere in the bible. Verses 26 & 27 seems to be referring to the when Jesus was crucified 3.5 yrs into his ministry. What im trying to understand is where does a 2000+ year gap fit in between the 69th and 70th week.

So is Daniel 9:24-27 referring to the death of Jesus or future events to come?

The seventy weeks are weeks of years for a total of 490 years beginning with the decree by Artaxerxes in 458 B.C to restore and rebuild the temple and the city walls (Neh. 2:1-8). Each week is a week of years. The first 69 weeks (the first seven weeks of years and the 62 weeks of years [Dan. 9:25]) of the prophecy were fulfilled before Jesus was crucified in 33 A.D. That leaves one week of years (7 years) left to be fulfilled. After the completion of the first 69 weeks of years and before the coming of the 70th week of years which is still future, Jesus was crucified, and 67 years later, in 70 A.D., the temple and Jerusalem were destroyed as per Daniel 9:26. The people of the prince who is to come refers to the Romans who destroyed the temple and Jerusalem in 70 A.D.

There is one week of years left to be fulfilled after the present dispensation of the church has completed. The final week - the 70th week, will begin when the antichrist (the prince who is to come who is mentioned in Dan. 9:26) signs a peace treaty with Israel (a firm covenant with the many for one week). The antichrist will break that covenant in the middle of the week (3 1/2 years - the middle of the 7 year Tribulation. When that covenant is broken and the abomination of desolation is set up in the temple, the Jews are warned to flee to a place in the wilderness prepared for them by God where they will be nourished and protected for a time, times and half a time (Rev. 12:14). This same period of time is described as 42 months in Rev. 13:5, and as 1260 days in Rev. 11:2-3. So the last half of the 7 year Tribulation is described as a time, times and half a time, 42 months, and 1260 days. This is according to a 360 day year using a Lunar calendar.

So understanding all of the above, it is seen that the future Tribulational period will last a total of 7 years. Remember also that the Tribulation does not begin with the rapture of the church, but with the signing of a peace treaty with Israel by the antichrist. That could potentially be 2 or 3 years after the church has been raptured. But once the covenant with the many is made, the Tribulation will begin, and continue for 7 years.

Doctrines.com, derived from the minds of men, who feed the gullible.

It's called "creative interpretation". Prophecy gurus are experts at it. They're out to make a buck from gullible Christians, and they feed this stuff to gullible Christians, who eat it up like sweetened breakfast cereal.
