Just a thought for today..sometimes I let past mistakes, screwups get me down..or mistakes I made today hinder me from what God wants me to do..wouldnt it be nice to forgive ourselves the way God forgives us?..
What is it that makes me not forgive myself? For me it's often my pride, and focusing on myself and not the Lord. Why did I fail again? I thought I had been having victory over those things...I'm so embarassed that my neighbor, who is not a Christian, saw me fail.., etc. I need to once again look to God, realize that His grace is sufficient, and that I cannot do it on my own no matter how much I try, and humbly pick up my cross...
thats a good question cg81..sometimes im harder on myself about the little things I mess up than the bigger things..I guess cause like you said..I thought I had overcame them..
"His understanding is infinite" When I don't understand the reasons I do things he does..The only thing I understand is what he wants me to understand..Jesus died that I may lay all my misunderstandings there, at the foot of the cross..
I heard someone recently say that we would never let other people talk to us like we talk to ourselves. We sit and tell ourselves that we are not worthy of this, and we didn't do this or that right... If someone else came up to us and said, "You're not worthy, you didn't do this right and you didn't do that right." If someone said those things to us, we'd think they were the enemy. He then said that we find we are being our own worst enemy.
As an adult convert to the catholic church, I approached my first confession with fear and trembling.
When I was done, the good ole Jesuit said to me, "you are never to confess these sins again"!
I got the mesaage. Jesus forgave me. Once and for all
Good message I think. For everyone.
