Amen. The field is where the work of God is going on in the world. A man/woman gets saved in the field of His work. There is the initial joy thereof but it becomes hid. The joy comes back in time through growing in Grace and in the Knowlege of the Lord. This life long joy comes back by learning to abide in and to do the will of God in the field of His work. One must learn the art of selling all of self to God in exchange for His Life.
REV 3:18-19 I counsel you to buy of Me gold tried in the fire, that you may be rich; and white raiment, that you may be clothed, and that the shame of your nakedness do not appear; and anoint your eyes with eyesalve, that you may see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent."
The exchange rate for this kind of Gold/ buying the field, is self. Sell to God your weak self and and He will give to you the Beauty of His Righteousness [Glory] and Himself.
Amen !!
The parable is teaching us that no sacrifice is too great to share in the kingdom which is of incomparable worth.
Aisi, We are to deny ourselves, our ambitions, our self-interest. Self must no longer rule our lives.
When we have done this Christ will be the center of all things in our lives, our whole interest in life as it is/was with our Lord to please the Father and most definitely a heart toward those who do not believe or understand by sharing our treasures we have found, been given of the kingdom of God.... the gospel of Jesus Christ !
Verses 51-53; Jesus said to them, "Have you understood all these things?" They said to Him, "Yes, Lord." Then He said to them, " Therefore every scribe instructed concerning the kingdom of heaven is like a householder who brings out of his treasure things new and old."
Jesus was telling those who understood the truths of the kingdom to share the treasures with others. The gospel is new in that Jesus brought it to fulfillment, it is old in that God had been preparing for it from the beginning.... amen !!
Always love reading your post...gary, they are always so full of the Spirit of God and a treasure one can always take and learn from !!
Great question Lego. The man who who found the field in my opinion is Jesus Christ. Contrary to everything I have ever believed or been taught, but think about.
The field is the world Matt 13:38
I think I see where you're coming from:
Or do you not know that your body [the field, the world] is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you [the kingdom, the treasure], whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. 1 Cor 6:19-20a
Amen !!

Thanks Cyber Munchkin. I always enjoy what you have to say also. You are a great light that shines in the darkness with the Spirit bearing witness. Great is your reward!
Then we speak out the otherside of our mouth and insist it is by grace we are saved, and not by selling everything we have to gain anything .
We don't literally sell or buy spiritual matters.. It is a parrable to make us stop and think more deeply on what God is saying to us. A differant form of speach as is poetry, if you will, to add weight and beauty to the message. Haven't you ever said I don't buy that, meaning I don't believe what your telling me. Well, God is simply saying to buy into what He says because it's a very good investment! Blessings to you.

I also see where you are coming from.
Then said Jesus to his disciples, `If any one doth will to come after me, let him disown [deny] himself, and take up his cross, and follow me, Matt 16:24
We were bought with a price by the One who buried the treasure of the Spirit within us. The word "deny" or "disown" as it's translated above, indicates to me that we consider ourselves the owner of ourselves (the field) until we realize that we've been "bought".
It's interesting looking at how Strong's defines one of the roots of that word deny/disown: to act entirely unlike himself or not to accept, to reject, to refuse something offered.
When our eyes are opened to Whom we belong and the great treasure within ourselves-- that Spirit "buried" within us all -- we begin to reject what we always believed about ourselves being separate from God and condemned and we begin to act entirely unlike our old selves/ the Old Man and take on the nature of Christ/the New Man.
Or do you not know that your body [the field, the world] is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you [the kingdom, the treasure], whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. 1 Cor 6:19-20a
Matt 13:44 “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.
Why does he hide the kingdom once he has found it? Wouldn't he want to share it?
Or is it that most are not to receive it (yet)?
Thoughts?
God has shared it, Lego. We all -- the world -- have been "bought". But until our eyes are opened to the treasure/kingdom/Spirit within, we will continue to "walk in the flesh" as if we own ourselves. (Also, aisi, having our 'eyes opened' does not mean believing certain doctrines, but simply experiencing the Love/Light within ourselves that transforms us. All may not recognize the origin of that Love/Light, but that does not mean they are not experiencing it at various levels.)
