“Who, during that time, was the most opposed that the Church would recognize the Society? The enemies of the Church. The Jews, the Masons, the Modernists,” Bishop Fellay, superior general of the society, said during a talk Dec. 28 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Chapel in New Hamburg, Ontario.

The comment was made in passing during the wide-ranging address, which lasted one hour and 40 minutes.

Not true at all. The Society of St. Pius X is a wacko fringe group, and LeFebvre is considered an extremist whose theology is at odds with the Church. Check out what the Pope actually wrote rather than relying on fourth-hand opinions:

Yes it is true before all the uproar the pope had open arms for this group, it wasn't till all the bad press did things change.

Since becoming pope, Benedict has met Fellay, promoted the old Latin Mass the SSPX champions and lifted excommunications imposed on Lefebvre and the four bishops when they defied Pope John Paul and went ahead with the unauthorized ordinations.

Benedict's 2007 decision to allow wider use of the old Latin Mass met with a mixed reaction among Catholics. A minority welcomed it but many thought that reviving the 16th century ritual was turning back the clock to before the 1960s Council.

Two years later, he set off a firestorm of criticism from Catholics, Jews and German politicians when his decision to lift the bishops' excommunications brought Holocaust-denying Bishop Richard Williamson back into the Church.

Lifting the excommunications meant the four bishops were once again full members of the 1.2-billion member Church, but they and the SSPX - which claims to have 500 priests and a million followers - had no official position or role within it.

Anyone that denies the Holocaust is antisemitic and has surely replaced Israel. To him applies Rom 11:22. Jesus said, Salvation comes from the Jews. When Israel welcomes the Lord, He comes back, if they come to faith, it is the Resurrection from the dead, the Gentile believers are not longer Gentiles, but fellow-citizens of the commonwealth of Israel (Eph 2) in the Spirit. They are called to bring the Jews to jalousie. The Church and especially the Catholic Church has not used the cross (mercy), but the sword. They have made the Jewish Messiah to a Gentile God, so no wonder religious Jews are enemies of the Church. This Bishop should pray for the peace of Jerusalem and for the Salvation of natural Israel and repent of the sins of his church.

It would seem the current "pope" would welcome them since he was a Hitler Youth himself. Remember that Rome was allied with Hitler until they were defeated by by the Baptist of America and Europe.
