They never did tell the Lord God who or what it was that told them that they were.

Why does God need to ask? I thought he was omniscient.

Or maybe it was rhetorical. And he already knew they ate from one of the forbidden trees. Lol jk I think you're kidding chuck man

He already knew. I imagine he already knew the man and woman would eat from the tree but he hoped. He hoped...

Of course He knew. It was to be their first of many lessons in drawing distinctions between Good and Evil . . . something only a being with consciousness can possess. THAT was the whole point. To give them their basic lesson in self-control of their inner urges . . . reinforced by the notion that bad consequences will attend failure to exercise it for Good and to avoid Evil. Prior to this experience . . . they had no conception whatsoever that there was any reason whatever to deny any of their inner urges. Something every human being has to learn for themselves. Our ability to grow and nurture a strong Soul (embryo Spirit) relies on that ability to control our inner urges for agape "love of God and each other" daily and repent when we don't.

If God had meant us to be naked, He wouldn't have given us clothes!

I was born naked. How about you?

Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD. - Job 1:21

Literally the Word of God does not say , who told them but It can be assumes that the serpent who told them to eat of the forbidden tree told them they were naked , either that or there were demons with the forbidden fruit who told them ..... As when they sinned against God Word then dark spirit are watching and listening , for sin does not happen until rebellion happens
