I believe Bob Marley had an interest in the Ethiopian Church and is said to have converted to it. It and the Copts are maybe the main elements of "pre-contact" African Christianity.
That being said the slaves who came to this country were primarily pagan and/or nominal Muslim. (I phrased it that way because in parts of West Africa then, though occasionally now, they would follow a mix of Islamic and polytheistic ideas or rituals. The purely Muslim ones tended to be more upper-class people who were rarely sold to others. Although among the Woloff people Islam was reportedly widespread regardless of class and some of them were brought to the Americas)
