The wrath of God remains on them.

John 3:36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them

This has done the rounds before. The wrath of God is upon unbelief, how did you survive it in unbelief ?. How do you survive in your moments of unbelief as a Christian ?.

The wrath of God destroys unbelief, not the unbeliever.

So, even though Jesus will say this to them...

"‘I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.’” (Matthew 7:22–23)

...he will eventually welcome them across the "chasm" (Luke 16)?

He says that will be "in that day".

Mat 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
