So, you think Jesus sent His diciples to antagonize people? No, He sent them to tell people the good newes, but He knew some would be offfended by it, and instructed them how to deal with it when it happens.
Of course He didn't. He stated that it would be better for Sodom and Gomorrah than for any village that refused hospitality to His disciples. Jesus knew the sin of Sodom and Gomorrah--a lack of hospitality--that is exactly what every other biblical writer mentions when speaking of those two towns.
It's only American fundamentalists that are focused on sex. Jesus wasn't stating that He thought any of the Judean villages were going to rape His disciples--but He knew some wouldn't receive them.
The Judean people were as entrenched in their fundamentalism as you are in yours, because you are offended that Jesus would love and accept people equally---and expect His followers to do the same.
Jesus talked how LOVE overcomes EVIL, how LOVE overcomes DISCRIMINATION, how LOVE overcomes BIGOTRY, how LOVE overcomes HATE.
He talked about LOVE being MERCY, about love being JUSTICE and about LOVE being teh GREATEST COMMANDMENT of all.
Yes, and He told His diciples to spread the same message, and He told them many would reject it, and He told them what to do then the message is rejeted. He also told them they would be hated, persecuted and he knew they would killed for it. He said they would be persecuted for their righteousness.

Well being British i mean European and a regular visitor to that continent,i know first hand that American fundamentalism does not go down that well, of cause you will find pockets of it here and there.
