Amen. The context used by our barbaric, savage, and ignorant ancestors was that of a vengeful God who needed to be appeased by a human blood sacrifice in a horrendous scourging and crucifixion to forgive the rest of us - - for what????

That is what people have a hard time seeing...yet...how much plainer could this be described?
Yes, hence your OP is correct. Liberal Christians are offended by the cross as the planned (by the Father, before time began) redemptive work of Christ.
This is an odd statement.
Not agreeing with something doesn't mean one is offended.

I think most people are blind to their own sin:
Walking past a beggar without acknowledging them.
Perhaps eating out for dinner when you could give that money to someone in need.
Going to a movie when you could visit someone in prison.
Are these things somehow not sin? And these are things that most people don't even view as being objectionable or even wrong.

This struck me as such a strange way of thinking that I searched on the thread title first looking to find where exactly you are getting this, and a whole list of sites popped up that makes this claim. It seems to be an oft-repeated meme on fundamentalist sites.
I'd like L8 or one of the other former fundamentalists to explain what the purpose of this line of thought is, what it is intended to accomplish, if they see this.

What sites?

It is not a "line of thought", it is a fact. People are offended by the Gospel. Why do you deny it?
What did the Apostles preach that got them killed?

What did the Apostles preach that got them killed?
Why do you care?
Why should anyone who otherwise has a life?
