That's not halloween. That was pagan customs on the same time frame as ours. Every day on the calender is the pagan holiday of something or other. You celebrate your birthday on a pagan holiday, should you stop?
It's not the date that is important, but what the function is. Halloween, got it's name from hallows eve. The date was converted from a pagan holiday to a Christian function. The pagan/Xian thoughts on the dates are hardly congruent.
Today there was a couple that came to the door (at my work place) carrying their bibles and pamphlets. The gentleman began by introducing himself and his wife and then said they wanted to talk about this upcoming holiday………………………………..HALLO WEEN!!!!!
And asked if I was interested in taking a pamphlet and learning the truth about the evils of Halloween
Now they were very nice and respectful, I told them thank you very much but I already know the truth about Halloween andthey promptly left.
This is not the first time I’ve had this happen and had I not been on the clock I would have liked to hear them out and I’m sure have a debate. It really irritates me when Christians go on these crusades to stomp out the evil trick or treating
I’m wondering how others feel about this as there is nothing in the Bible about Halloween, Halloween is not about Satan and I have been in and out of Church most of my life and never been to a Church that had a problem with celebrating Halloween. What gives with the Halloween haters?
Those are the same people that have no trouble celebrating Christmas and Easter and such, and all are Pagan holidays.
Yes, I've seen this with conservative Christians of many kinds? Coming from a very conservative Christian, I will say, ignore the anti-Halloween nonsense. As long as what you do is just clean fun, dress up like a witch or whatever. My attitude, is that its a mockery of Satan, evil ghosts, goblins, witches etc.
I'll go you one better. My sister converted to one of the fundamentalist varieties several years ago. She once bought a Dirt Devil vacuum cleaner, then taped over the word "Devil" so that she would not be influenced by Satan. I told her "You could have bought a Eureka"
So...she bought a 'Dirt'?
There are also people that will avoid getting 6.66 in change -- to the point where they'll pick up a random pack of gum just to get around that total.

What does Light have to do with darkness? Filling our minds with that which is pure, lovely, of a good report...though it may be lawful, is it profitable or expedient? I don't condemn anyone for dressing up like those of the underworld , but when I hear a believer saying there's nothing wrong with it I wonder...
Again, imo.
With out darkness how would we know what is light?
Our church is having "Trunk or Treat" in the parking lot.
I grew up in an area that only celebrated Halloween with the biggest fund raiser of the year. Each elementary school classroom had its choice for making money such as "go fish," cake walks, etc. There was a King and Queen and Prince and Princess of Halloween that was crowned and reigned over the festivities wearing evening clothes. They were elected by collecting pennies in a jar that displayed their picture with the one having the most money in the jar being the winner. Everybody went and had fun.
I was a teen before I ever went "trick or treating" and mostly got apples and pop corn. Not that much fun. Our houses were too far apart and when we were "blessed out" for disturbing a ladies sleeping child we went straight home without stopping any more.
I don't like the holiday but would not refuse to let my children do the trick or treat any more than I would refuse to let Santa come. Children do not understand any more than it being a fun activity. Some things you don't need to know about until you are grown; but I do NOT see Halloween as a Christian activity. It really gives place to the devil as the Bible tells us not to do. We are really not supposed to celebrate evil.
We once had a pastor that thought churches should not have Halloween activities because he felt it weakened the church. He stated scriptures to back up this claim, but I don't remember what they were. I remember it was about being pure and obeying God.

There is also a group of Christians , in the south we call "hell fire preachers/Christian's " they are the ones with the signs and pamphlets that announce you're going to burn in hell
In my opinion, Christians need to stay out of the Halloween business. We don't need to judge anyone. Let the world have their celebration. In time, or if they make it to Heaven, they'll realize it was wrong.
