“For by works of the law no human being will be justified in His sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin.” (Rom 3:20)
Righteousness has been imputed to us – sin has no power over us. That means that positionally you have been removed from the state of sin into the state of righteousness - not by your works, but by faith in His work.
“For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.” (Rom:6:14) People read that and apply law to themselves, but see it through the eyes of grace! God doesn't see your sin because He sees the Blood. We should no longer be sin conscious but be conscious of God’s righteousness.
“Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered; blessed is the man against whom the Lord will not count his sin.” (Rom 4:7-8)
We are blessed, not by our works, efforts or accomplishments, but only by beholding Jesus and his finished work on the cross. In fact, our righteousness is filth in light of God's holiness. (Isa 64:6) We are truly blessed because all our sins are eternally forgotten, never to be remembered anymore.
How is it possible that the grace of God frees us from living in sin? “For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteousness requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.” (Rom 8:2-4)
By Jesus fulfilling the righteous requirement of the law, He took all our sins upon Him and we appropriated his righteousness by faith.
Then the lawmungers scream, "There can be no sin in the camp!" To which the response must be: "Quit eating of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil." ”For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.” (Gal 5:1)
Is sin real? Of course - but when we fall, let us not fall from grace! We have an advocate with the Father, so trust in Him and don't focus on your failures...that, my friends is overcoming. Condemnation and sin consciousness are crippling lives today due to people’s lack of understanding of truth and not understanding their position in Christ; however, there is hope for the believer through the grace and truth that comes through Jesus. It was law that came through Moses, but the truth came through Christ!
The result is we will actually see fruit of righteousness. Sin consciousness actually produces sin - "The sting of death is sin, and the strength (power) of sin is the law". (1 Cor 15:56) Did we read that correctly? Sin's power is actually in our consciousness of the law.
Is the murderer also righteous then? For if it doesn't take works to save you, then surely the work of murder cannot condemn you, correct?

David, king of Israel
Saul of Tarsus/Paul the Apostle
etc...
The Savior is known as the I AM, a God of our present who is not held within the confines of time and space as we know it. What does that have to do with anything?
What is the murderer who has come to faith in Christ's atoning sacrifice for him/her? According to the law of grace, he/she is no longer but is now a new creature in Christ. The world will still hold them under law, because the law is made for the ungodly (1 Tim 1:9). They may be held in prison, or even put to death...

...but in Christ they're a new creature.
I'm still a bit confused. So a Murderer doesn't come to Christ right now but is still doing the work of murder and doing their own thing, are they then righteous right now?
I'll wait for Little Elmer and discuss, thanks anyway.
