There are too many instances of this to list, and to do so would surely step on someone's toes. It seems to me a lot of denominations, churches, and even religions, take a verse here and another verse there and twist them around into doctrines far removed from the oringinal context and content. These doctrines then become the center point of their belief system. What happens to those where The Scriptures are cherry picked?
Perhaps the problem isn't whether or not people cherry-pick but rather the idea that the foundation should be the bible. Even your bible says the foundation to be built on is Christ, not the bible. Do with that what you will, but as I see it, Christ is one and the same as the spirit of God who is love. If you are walking in the spirit, then your foundation is sure.

How does that change anything? You can still say anything, and claim Jesus told you.
