What does it mean to be Christlike? How are we to become more like Christ? By what yardstick do we measure our Christlikeness? Outside of glory, will we one day be able to look down from the mountaintop and yell out, "My Christlikeness is complete," or will we always be looking up and striving?

I think most people think Jesus is just a nice guy that wouldn't offend someone. They see him as the guy in the picture hanging on Grandma's wall--the one where he has long flowing locks, blue eyes, wears a woman's nightgown, and knocks on the door of your heart. To tell someone they're wrong is to NOT be that guy.

Truth be told, Jesus did get angry. He tipped over tables, called people a brood of vipers, thieves, etc.

And he also died on a cross to pay the penalty for the sins of any that trust in him.

As it was said of Aslan, the Lion, "He is not tame, but he is good".

Vizio, don't worry about it - I was agreeing with your comment.

Yep, he called the preachers (Pharisees) a brood of snakes.

Because not only did they not practice what they preached, they put burdens on the common folk that not only were they able to bear themselves, that also they would not lift one finger to help them with, they had a form of godliness but denied the power, travelled the world to make one convert that ended up being twice the child of hell they are, they strained at gnat and swallowed camels, and neglected the weightier matters of the law..... Justice, kindness and faith over their pet doctrines.

Jesus never came close to saying anything like this to anyone other than that brood of vipers and those who were profiting from their vile burdensome religious system that was like a white washed tomb which outwardly looked beautiful but inwardly was full of dead men's bones and uncleanliness.

And sadly, you do the exact same thing. By telling people to just love each other you are commanding them to uphold the Law.
