We volunteer at our church so my husband is there for 3 services, I'm there for 2, our children come for 1.

That's on Christmas Eve. Last service is at 8.

I'm thinking this year of finding an actual midnight service.

Our church does not do anything on Christmas eve so that families can be together. We always eat a meal together, exchange gifts between family members and watch a movie together. I think this year we are going to watch the Nativity. We try to make it a special family time. We recognize that the date has nothing to with with Jesus or God but we use the occasion to build our faith and family bond.

We will have a candlelight service at our church. We will sing Christmas hymns and read scripture. The last couple of songs we will darken the lights and light the candles. It's kind of cool.

So does mine. Our priest is 70 and lives about an hour's drive from the church. He asked if we could move up the time.

Yes. That's always my "this is Christmas" moment. We light the candles at the end of the service and sing "Silent Night".
