This is not a your a sinner if you eat Pork thread, but rather try to limit your intake of it, because it is bad for you and God said our bodies are temples, so take care of it.

Pork Problems Consumer Reports Finds Dangerous Bacteria in Pork - YouTube

This is from a consumer reports article from late 2012. So here we have it almsot 6000 years later and continuous reports of how unclean Pork is, yet many claim all food are clean and meant to be eaten.

The whole purpose of the dietary laws was that God gave certain foods that he meant to be as food for us. You can find problems at times with Chicken and Beef too, but Pork is almost guaranteed to make you sick if you eat it raw and every time a report comes out it continues to show all the problems with Pork, yet we say that was for the Jews only.

God cares about all who are in Christ well being whether you are Jew or Gentile and that is why he gave the list of foods to be eaten.

Actually, I've seen recent articles where they say that we can now eat it cooked to medium. It would seem that it isn't as bad as it used to be. The pork we have today is fed differently, and it really is a much different animal than the pigs of 5000, or even 2000 years ago.

USDA changes guidelines for cooking pork - Chicago Tribune

But I will agree with you--the Jews, living in the desert, were told to avoid certain things. It's reasonable to suggest that shellfish was not something they'd want to eat as they wandered through the desert. Pork was also a bad thing.

If your concern about pork is strictly due to possible health issues, wouldn't it be more appropriate to post this in the health and wellness forum, or in the food forum, instead of in the Christian forum? And it would perhaps get read by more people over there whether they be believers in Christ or not. Just a thought.

Ok, so handling raw pork, and eating raw or undercooked pork could pose a health risk.

Just like any other kind of meat.

Yet, Old Testament does not have dietary laws about all kinds of meat.

Maybe this alone is not the basis for those dietary laws....

It belongs here more because many Christians think God somehow after 4000 yrs made the pig clean and a source of food for his believers to eat even though it is nowhere backed in the bible. They see no reason why as to why pigs were not meant to be eaten in the 1st place and on the forbidden list in the dietary laws other than God told the Jews NO.

This study just proves that after 5-6000 yrs, God had every reason in the beginning to list pork as food not to eaten and after all these years it is still bad for you today.

Christian Logic Taught:
Noahs time-Unclean foods are okay
Moses time- No unclean foods are allowed
After Jesus-Unclean foods are now okay again

This makes God, a God that changes his mind every 1-2000 yrs. And goes against Mal 3:6 where he he doesnt change.

You are completely incorrect about the intent of the "LAW". There are many other things that are far worse for a person than pork but they are not proscribed. If what you are saying is true then they would have been, for the same reasons you state. It's clear the intent of God's dietary laws was to "Set a people apart". God wanted a nation that was set apart from the world and these people could be easily recognized by their customs. Does God care less about the health of his new covenant people? Why does he allow us to eat pork if his intent was to guard the health of his people? Christians are also set apart from the world as the people of God but the signs are different than the Jews had. A good example is circumcision. All of the Jewish babies had to have this done as a sign and also as a seal as being part of the covenant community. Christians Baptise their children for the same purpose.

New York (AFP) - Almost all of the raw chicken sold in the US contains potentially harmful bacteria such as salmonella and E.coli, according to an analysis by Consumer Reports published Thursday.

The magazine tested 316 raw chicken breasts in 26 states and "found potentially harmful bacteria lurking in almost all of the chicken, including organic brands," it said.

The analysis found that chicken from the four largest brands (Perdue, Pilgrim's, Sanderson Farms, Tyson) "contained worrisome amounts of bacteria" and that more than half the chicken breasts were tainted with fecal contaminants that can cause blood and urinary-tract infections.

The research analyzed chicken from major brands, including Wal-Mart Stores, Whole Foods, Kroger and Trader Joe's.

The magazine's study was already underway this fall when there was an outbreak of salmonella that government investigators linked to chicken sold by three Foster Farm plants. In that case, some 389 people were infected, the magazine said.

"What's going on with the nation's most popular meat?" queried the well-known consumer publication, pointing out that Americans buy an estimated 83 pounds of chicken a person each year.

The magazine said more than 48 million people fall sick each year due to food tainted with salmonella, campylobacter, E. coli, and other contaminants, and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has found that "more deaths were attributed to poultry than to any other commodity."

Report finds contamination in most chicken sold in US

Are you then not concerned about the health of unbelievers?

At any rate, God said to Noah that every moving thing that is alive shall be food for you (Genesis 9:3).
Gen. 9:3 "Every moving thing that is alive shall be food for you; I give all to you, as I gave the green plant.
God gave certain laws and rules to Israel that He did not give to Gentiles, or to the Church. Many things were ceremonially unclean for Israel. And while it is true that eating too much pork is not good for you, that is true of everything.

And did you not read the conversation between God and Peter?
Acts 10:10 But he became hungry and was desiring to eat; but while they were making preparations, he fell into a trance; 11] and he saw the sky opened up, and an object like a great sheet coming down, lowered by four corners to the ground, 12] and there were in it all kinds of four-footed animals and crawling creatures of the earth and birds of the air. 13] A voice came to him, "Get up, Peter, kill and eat!" 14] But Peter said, "By no means, Lord, for I have never eaten anything unholy and unclean." 15] Again a voice came to him a second time, "What God has cleansed, no longer consider unholy."
God has cleansed all goods from ceremonial defilement. God's nature does not change for He is immutable. But God establishes different policies in the various dispensations of human history.

If the Creator had meant us not to eat pork, he would not have made it taste so good.

Common sense, people!

Bacon is the one thing I have encountered that actually makes me think twice that there may be a god.
