The Holy Spirit has seven main categories of ministry though He be One and each has a proper name because He a person.
The Spirit of the Lord contains within Himself the Seven Spirits [ministries/gifts/workings] of God. Therefore the list in Isaiah is not the seven because the first in the list of Isaiah is the Spirit of the Lord [all seven within the first which is the Spirit of the Lord] and only six follow in the list.
It works like this: Creation is the visible display of Gods spiritual nature. Jesus said in JN 3:12, "If I have told you earthly things, and you do not believe, how shall you believe, if I tell you of Heavenly things?" Because spiritual truth is parallel to the natural truths. Jesus said " I am the
Light of the world." Natural light can be broken down into the seven colors of the rainbow.
A rainbow is over the throne of God and it is written of in Revelation, 4. The seven colors of the rainbow are as follows and their corresponding meanings:
No.1 and 2: The first two Spirits of God are mentioned in, ZECH 12:10 "And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of Grace and of Supplications:"
No. 1 is red: the
Spirit of Grace [Atonement by blood]. Grace can be described in many ways such as unmerited favor or His ability freely given for us to became like Christ. Grace is given to us because because of the Atonement for sins. It is the crown of the rainbow and overshadows all of Gods' work.
No 2 is orange: the
Spirit of Supplication and given to consume inordinate fleshly desires [born again/baptized of the
fire of God as John the Baptist said, MT 3:11 "I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but He that comes after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and
with fire:"
It in turn is symbolized by the hot fire [bright orange] under the Old Testament alter of sacrifices and so the Spirit of Supplication prepares us as sacrifices from an old life unto the New Life.
No. 3 is yellow and symbolizes the
Spirit of Truth: JN 16:13 "Howbeit when He, the Spirit of Truth, is come, he will guide you into all Truth:"
Yellow like pure gold because the
Spirit of Truth is the mind of Christ such as wisdom, council, understanding and knowledge which are eternal.
All comes by the Spirit not the law because Grace and Supplication has prepared you to "hear".
No. 4 is green and symbolizes the
Spirit of Holiness. ROM 1:4 "And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the Spirit of Holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:" The resurrection proves He is Holy and Righteous.
Green as when the earth resurrects from the death of winter. TheSpirit of Holiness is also symbolized by the color of the Throne of God in Revelation 4 which in color is like an emerald and also the stone that represents the tribe Judah on the O.T. High Priests' breastplate of judgment. EX 28:18 "And the second row shall be an
emerald, a sapphire, and a diamond. The emerald came after the first three stones in row one. The forth son of Jacob was Judah according to Genesis chapter 29!
EX 28:15 "And you shall make the breastplate of judgment with cunning work; after the work of the ephod you shall make it; of gold, of blue, and of purple, and of scarlet, and of fine twined linen, shall you make it." So you see all these colors and others mean spiritual things.
All green things in the spring time speak of the resurrection and of His Holiness and that the Fruit of the Spirit is on the way as it is in nature. Holiness must first be established before the Fruit can appear.
REV 22:2 "And the leaves of the Tree [of Life] were for the healing of the nations." Why? Because green leaves put out pure oxygen and therefore represent the pure spiritual "air" of Heaven which is Holiness.
No 5 is sky blue and represents the
Spirit of Life [Fruit of the Spirit].
ROM 8:2 "For the law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death." Love sets us free hate and the fear of man, joy sets us free from sorrow and depression, peace sets us free from turmoil of mind and etc.
The Priest of the O.T. wore a robe of all blue. Jesus is the High Priest over the whole earth to give the beauties of Heavenly places to all "see" if we ask.
No. 6 is indigo or dark blue and represents the
Spirit of Adoption. ROM 8:15 "For you have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of Adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father."
Indigo has lots of blue with red mixed in it. We are adopted into the Life of Christ as a on/daughter like as He by Is blood Atonement.
No. 7 is purple [violet as it is called today] and it represents the
Spirit of Glory which means the Beauty of His Character. 1PET 4:14 "If you be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are you; for the Spirit of Glory and of God rests upon you: on their part He is evil spoken of, but on your part he is Glorified."
A purple cloth was put over the ash pan after the sacrifices where made on the alter of sacrifices in the O.T. to symbolize that all has been done to bring forth character/righteousness. It is the culmination of the other six and what Gods desires for mankind.
Purple is red and blue mixed in a most beautiful combination and they represent in combination the blood of His suffering and the beauty of His Life and they sum up to,
THE BEAUTY OF HIS CHARACTER, the finished work of His Glory. Christ showed Character, in spite of His sufferings. Character is what God has for all who believe.
Some will say, Where do you find this in the Bible? It is there but hidden and can only be revealed by the Spirit. It is some of the "hidden manner" of God. Truth/Manna feeds the soul. There are lot of things said in the Bible but not explained. But God is in the business of opening up the "unsearchable riches of Christ" to those who diligently seek.
REV 2:17 "He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit say to the churches; To him that overcomes I will give to eat of the
hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knows saving he that receives it."
MT 13:52 "Then said He to them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the Kingdom of Heaven is like unto a man that is a householder, which brings forth out of his treasure
things new and old."
