Just wondering what were people's overall thoughts on christian tattoos? Are they frowned upon? Are they considered different than non-religious tattoos? Here are a couple of them as examples.
If you just google "christian tattoos" you can see a huge variety ranging from a full back piece of the last supper to small crosses you probably won't notice.
I would have that tattoo removed right away. Or at most, make sure your parishioners do not see it.
Lastly, ask God to forgive you.
Leviticus 19:28
King James Version (KJV)
28 Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord.
Leviticus 19:28
English Standard Version (ESV)
28 You shall not make any cuts on your body for the dead or tattoo yourselves: I am the Lord.
First of all, my tattoos are not for the dead. It's not like I pray to the dead. Having said that, those were commands given to the ancient Israelites living under the Mosaic Law. This is an issue of context. Christians are not expected to live under that Law--because we are all incapable of doing so. If you think you can't get a tattoo I hope you also don't shave your beard or cut your hair--because that's part of the Law, as well. If you think obeying the Mosaic Law makes you holy, you have no need for Christ.
Galatians 3:10-11 "For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed be everyone who does not abide by all things written in the Book of the Law, and do them.” 11 Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for “The righteous shall live by faith.”
I have one on my leg. It's a cross. I'm not aware of any scripture telling a Christian NOT to get one.
There is
And if your right leg causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell

Unless you are Jewish, I wouldn't worry too much about Leviticus. Jesus came to 'Fulfuill' the Law, which essentially means make it obsolete.
Just as the Sabbath and Clean Food was less important than faith in Jesus. What a hand does defiles a man, not what is printed on it.
The message of the Gospels is, the OT doesn't count, unless Jesus specifically says it does.

You seem to have a good understanding of this fairly simple concept Arequipa. Why don't other atheists (in regards to them calling out Christians for cherry picking scripture)?

Probably because some christians do cherry pick. In this very thread there is an example of that.

You are right. I am trying to educate the goddless in not trying to disconfit the believers by embarrassing them with the nasties in the OT. At the same time, it very often seems to work, with the believers tying themselves in knots trying to justify or wriggle out of a bear clawing some cheeky kids to bits apparently with the full approval of God.
So maybe the believers also need to be educated into not taking the OT as a moral code -book...unless Jesus says so, specifically.
