I wonder if anyone will go protest his funeral.

Here's the thing. I don't care. Never have and never will. If I don't like someone else's opinions of me, I don't pay attention. The people who gave Fred Phelps and his family a platform are in fact gays and atheist and people of that ilk. They literally threw money at them by tuning in to the documentaries and tv shows about them. I could care less. I hope he got right with God at the end just like I hope Christopher Hitchens did. I prayed for both of them while they were alive.

Like all bullies, they're cowards.

By not having a funeral they deprive him of the attention he craved in life. Rather fitting if you ask me.

Let him rest in peace. He is answering to God now.

My guess is he has already answerd to God and now he is conversing with somebody else.

Just my speculation. Not my judgement because I have no authority to judge.

Too bad when this Administration had 675,000 signatures to either label them a hate group or revoke their 501(c)3 status they couldn't or wouldn't. White House says it can't list Westboro Baptist as 'hate group' | Religion News Service

The Executive Branch of the United States government does not have the power to revoke 501(c)3 status. Neither does that branch have the power to label entities as "hate groups". (Personally I don't want a repeat of the days of Nixon having an Enemies List of all the people he didn't like.) There are private organizations that do. The Southern Poverty Law Center IS a group that has listed Phelps' group as a hate group.

The petition website exists as a forum of free speech and to gauge public interest on various topics. If you're so concerned about Phelps' group I suggest you send a donation to the SPLC. Here you go: Southern Poverty Law Center. They do wonderful work and have since the Civil Rights days.
