Meanwhile Al Gore flies around in his private jet between his multi-million dollar mansions which have 10x the energy costs of an average home. Granted I do get the point of your post. I just think there are more legitimate threats than global warming - you'd think Fukishima spewing radiation into the Pacific ocean for 3 years straight would be a global concern, but does the media cover it? No because they haven't figured out how to make money off of that yet. Global warming on the other hand...
Rising sea levels. Great opportunity to make money building and installing dikes like the Netherlands. Worked for hundreds of years so far.

New business and LOTS of jobs opening. The line forms .......................

legoman, you were repped before the end of the world takes away the opportunity.

If believers really want to hear the truth: you're told 365 times in the new testament to "fear not", but only once are believers told to fear - it's that we don't enter into rest. (Heb 4:1)

Don't be moved by this world - you're of a higher order.

Why is this on the Christianity thread?

To put it profanely, God does not give a flying you know what about the day to day or age to age state of the physical earth. God is ALL about faith and morals.

Besides, you are wrong. Not by fire but by ice

More good old fashion rational thinking. And to be found in the Christianity forum of all places. You're a beacon in a void of darkness, Legoman.

You're right, there is the real possibility that much of this is being hyped by various organizations with a stake in making money out of a "crisis".

My opinion, after hearing a All Things Considered report this afternoon, is that a 10-foot rise in sea level is probably hyped. But whole islands in the Pacific disappearing under water is not.

What we should be looking for is not projections, but things that have already happened, like the every-500-year deluge that just occurred in the South earlier this week; the unnatural number of tornadoes in the last couple of weeks; the historic flooding in the midwest. We've never seen weather events like these and many scientists are saying that climate change is not a thing of the future;it's here right now and it cannot be reversed at this point, only mitigated.

But if you really want to talk about "corporations asking for money to save the world because the sky is falling" look no further than the prophecy peddlers on Daystar Inc, GodTV Inc, and TBN Inc who are shouting the rapture and tribulation and WW3 and the return of Jesus is right around the corner and they need your $$$$'s to spread the news.

This thread needs to be moved.

People can't even predict the weather three days in advance and we are supposed to listen to predictions of events thousands of years in the future of which they have no control.

Ridiculous. No rapture argument necessary.
