Luke 21:
20 When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies
21 Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains
22 this is the time of punishment in fulfillment of all that has been written.
23 How dreadful it will be
24 They will fall by the sword
25 There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars.
26 People will faint from terror
27 At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory
Can you put 2000 years between verse 23 and 27? No.

36 Truly I tell you, all this will come on this generation

That was the fall of Jerusalem. It was not Jesus return. Jesus will return at the end of the great tribulation to take his people up off the earth, then destroy every living thing on earth.

The second coming of Jesus has not come.
This is how one needs to understand the relationship between verse 23 thru ending with verse 27
....................................... it's referred to as the telescoping nature of prophecy ..........
What Jesus was doing here was while prophesying the near future destruction of Jerusalem, he was also looking through that "lens". But then he also went deeper into the future "lens" concerning the end of the world ... his second coming.
He often would go in between the two without announcing it, so it is admittedly that it's hard to distinguish just what is meant for one or for both.

In order to get the full 'picture' you need to compare Luke 21 with Matt. 24:
21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.
23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.
24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
25 Behold, I have told you before.
26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.
27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.
29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
And then you need to look at the many other passages that speak of His second coming, and by putting ALL of it together you will see it is a future event.
According to the Bible All flesh will not survive the second coming of Lord Jesus Christ as all people who worship the beast or have that mark of the beast or have the number of the beast will lose their flesh , and people of Christ will be raptured and resurrected from the dead and rule with Christ for a thousand years with the devil and demons and fallen angels locked in the abyss, which means no sin in the earth for thousand years and Jesus has dominion ..................As far people can see there has always been sin in the earth as there has always been a war or rebellion in the earth and corruption and hatred have never been removed as Jesus promised in His second coming , as the 70 AD theory has many holes in it ..............

So why did no one see this alleged return of Christ you claim happened in 70AD? Seems the verse spelled out that he would be seen. Just show me the evidence of those all who saw Him and we can discuss it.
