JERUSALEM, ISRAEL (ANS) -- Around 60,000 Christian pilgrims from around the world are expected to visit Israel this Christmas. The Israeli Tourism Ministry has said that the number of pilgrims is around 50 per cent higher than in 2006.

“This year, a total of around one million Christian tourists, half of them pilgrims, are expected to visit Israel,” reports Daniel Blake for http://www.christiantoday.com. “The number represents a 30 per cent increase on the number of Christian tourists visiting last year.”

I think it would be absolutely wonderful to visit Isreal and the Holy Land and actually walk where Jesus walked and visit places where Jesus visited. I think it could reinforce one's faith and understanding. Kind of like connect the dots, so to speak. It could provide an entirely new perspective of the times in which Jesus walked the earth. It would be a truly amazing trip for those fortunate enough to make it.

Post ..want to say..

I can say from my own experience that it IS amazing to be there, walking in His steps, so to speak. Bethlehem, Golgotha, the Sheep's Pool, Mount of Olives, Gethsemene, and the Sea of Gallilee, just to name some of the places.

It was a pilgrimage that has had an everlasting effect on my life and how I am to conduct my life here in the West as a Christian. Glory to God for all things!
