Or maybe Victoria's point was that the blessing is IN the doing, the caring, the loving -- not that God is going to reward you with material things. It feels good to know you've done something that blesses someone else.
Material rewards is a central teaching in the Osteen church.
I believe there is no greater desire of God than to
see his creation enjoying the abundant life he's given it.
Those who are enjoying the abundant life demonstrate God in the spirit of love, joy,
peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control....
Aw, so good to drop back here every few months and read
words like these...thank you, my buddy.

I've listened to one or two Joel Osteen messages now. That's not much to go on, of course, but I didn't find what you're saying to be true of those messages.
She may be, but that honestly never once crossed my mind when I listened
to the video.
To me, she was simply saying that doing what's good, feels good (spiritually, emotionally, however you want to look at it).
Nor did I understand her to be saying that our well-being is the top priority for us,
but rather it is God's top priority for us.
So, if you're doing good, and feeling good about it, that's how God wants it.
Bingo.
Gotta put your face mask on first before ya go puttin' on anyone else's!! I always say!
Nice to see you, Pleroo.

So this was your point all along.
Pursue God and all that he is for yourself and just like he did on the mount of olives break it and share it with the world is what i hear when i have heard him on the tv. Freely youi have received freely give, do unto others as you would have them do to you.

My take...they want everyone to know God's JOY...as in being a Julie
Andrews on the mountain top with arms up to the sky...that kinda happy...in
every arena there is here...health, wealth, relationships, career...to receive all that is our inheritance.
I do...and am an example of God's bounty, joy, health, power, wisdom, faith, love,
hope, generosity ...I amaze my friends of 40 years....since 'my change' by
His Grace and renewed mind....since Oct '05.
Just sayin'...the Osteen's got it goin' on! Despite those that poo-poo them, as I see it.
And the wave of their exuberance just keeps spreading outward.

Like I said earlier: "The Bible says "I am come that you might have life and have it more abundantly". Jesus said this meaning the fruits of the Spirit, which a believer will receive, will make our lives more joyous, and also make our lives eternal. Abundant in quality of spiritual well being, and abundant in duration. Material well being often follows spiritual well being, but not always."
However, many people who follow Osteen do so because of the promise of becoming wealthy and successful in this world. It is not the same message Jesus taught.
