Ignore the peripheries. Especially Revelation, but there are some far out epistles as well. Do not try to reconcile the oddities to the core message. It does not matter who Theophilus is. It does not matter what Revelation says. It does not matter if the Old Testament can be reconciled to the New Testament. ALL that matters is that you are right with God and right with your neighbor. That's ALL!

Well, frankly that is one of the wisest things I've never heard from someone around here.
I agree with you, wholeheartedly, chuckmann. If only more fundamentalists could think like that and get away from this stuff that the Bible is the complete inerrant word of God and we are to follow it and believe in it to the letter.

We'd all be better off if the Bible contained just two sentences:
"Love God with all your heart and your neighbor as yourself. Upon this hangs
ALL THE LAW AND THE PROPHETS"
Meaning that's all we need out a thousand+ pages of garbled incoherent writings.
