I myself begin with the core message of Jesus. Love God with your whole heart and your who mind and your whole soul. Love your neighbor as yourself. In other words, be right with God asnd be right with your neighbor.

That is the center of the message of Jesus, Go outward from there.

Ignore the peripheries. Especially Revelation, but there are some far out epistles as well. Do not try to reconcile the oddities to the core message. It does not matter who Theophilus is. It does not matter what Revelation says. It does not matter if the Old Testament can be reconciled to the New Testament. ALL that matters is that you are right with God and right with your neighbor. That's ALL!
This makes too much sense to ever be accepted!!!

From a spiritual perspective we would probaably all be better off with just those two great commandments. It would end debate and bigotry and focus Christians on what really matters. We could burn our Bibles and get on with living for Christ.

Therefore your fine suggestion will be ignored. Shall I bring the nails and beams for your crucifixion?

Chuckling ... Too cowardly to face such a death myself. Glad I live when I do ...

If that were true Jesus wasted a lot of breath as did his followers. I think he knew a spiritual person needs more or he would not have bothered to teach more and the NT would be one page long.

Well, frankly that is one of the wisest things I've never heard from someone around here.

I agree with you, wholeheartedly, chuckmann. If only more fundamentalists could think like that and get away from this stuff that the Bible is the complete inerrant word of God and we are to follow it and believe in it to the letter.

We'd all be better off if the Bible contained just two sentences:

"Love God with all your heart and your neighbor as yourself. Upon this hangs ALL THE LAW AND THE PROPHETS"

Meaning that's all we need out a thousand+ pages of garbled incoherent writings.
