12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
I believe that Jesus fulfilled all the beatitudes and that those who truly follow Him do as well.
No, but He did exemplify all the beatitudes. Every prophet fulfills all the beatitudes. As Jesus sums up His followers with ;"they persecuted the prophets before you" indicating His followers are prophets.
"Blessed is he who hears the word of the Lord and keeps it."
"Blessed is he who's way is blameless who walks in the law of the Lord."

The beatitudes are such a great encouragement. Too many Christians think their lives should be perfect and without sorrow. If we truly follow him we should expect trials and tribulation, because he said we would. If we don't experience some persecution than our light isn't shining bright enough.
Those beatitudes surely point ways to options away from the myriad material concerns we deluge ourselves with each and every day in our lives. Fundamentally it provides balance to our lives here. There is more than 'going after the buck'...;-)...
