Why Would God Enginner the Permian Mass Extinction 252 Million Years Ago? (dinosaur, myth)

Scientists now know that the earth in its geological history has had five mass extinction events. The most serious occurred 252 million years ago in which:
Quote:
up to 96% of all marinespecies and 70% of terrestrialvertebrate species becoming extinct. It is the only known mass extinction of insects. Some 57% of all families and 83% of all genera became extinct. Because so much biodiversity was lost, the recovery of life on Earth took significantly longer than after any other extinction event, possibly up to 10 million years. __Wikipedia
Now my question goes beyond the mythology of God creating the world in 6 days roughly 6,000 years ago. These five mass extinctions are scientific fact. What my question goes to is "if man was not around during these five extinction events then what was God's purpose in wiping out life just to allow it to slowly evolve again over millions of years just to turn around and wipe out this newly evolved life all over again?
The Bible talks of only one mass extinction event which supposedly occurred, if you take this stuff seriously, about 5000 years ago in Noah's Flood. Why doesn't the Bible mention the five previous mass extinctions and some clues as to their purpose. If man was not on the earth then certainly God was not judging the animals for their sins.
There is a 6th mass extinction event going on right now as described by Thom Hartmann in his short documentary, "The Last Hours"
As one watches one see that this next extinction event, as were all but one of the previous five (the one was a giant meteor that struck the Yucatan and wiped out the dinosaurs--the crater is still visible from space even today) is going on right now as massive amounts of methane are being release from under the oceans--the exact same situation that caused four of the previous ones and has been going on for the last few hundred years as man began punching holes in the earth to drill for oil.
So the question again: if God only passes judgment on man for his sins according to the Bible, why did God pass judgment on an earth devoid of man five times in the past when sin didn't even exist? And if another mass extinction occurs over the next several hundred years, would this be Biblical judgment or just another naturally-occurring event in which billions of people will die from starvation and only a few million will survive to start the population growing all over again?
he didn't judge silly, he engineered the planet. and in fact still is. He is not done yet. Think of it this way. What did life leave the next life form? then think what we will leave. It's really cool when ya think about it.
The Flood of Noah has powerful implications in the context of this [P-Tr] extinction research. First, the fact that many more land creatures survived this calamity than marine creatures makes sense if God preserved the land creatures in a giant watertight box built by Noah and his sons for that purpose.4
Second, perhaps the layers that Gastaldo traced were formed from tidal oscillations that occurred while the earth was still underwater during the year-long Flood. In that case, the geochemical signatures and extinct fossilized creatures found in these P-Tr boundary rocks could be remnants of volcanic debris and floating animal carcasses that were on the earth’s surface during those few days or weeks.
In other words, if the rock layers do not represent vast eons, then they quite possibly do contain evidence of “one, unique event.” And given the reliability of the [Biblical] written record of the global Flood event, this possibility becomes probable.
So the Permian mass extinction started 252 million years ago and culminated in Noah's flood 5,000 years ago. Scientifically sound, I'm sure.
Then I'm kinda puzzled because Wiki says that 96% of marine life disappeared while only 76% of land life disappeared. Why would 96% of marine creatures disappear when water was their natural habitat?
