Why do you say Genesis 2 vs 15-17 is speculation because isn't according to that Scripture that Adam knew the Law ?
Eve repeated God's Law to the serpent at Genesis 3 vs 2,3
Well, there is nothing there to imply that if he had kept G-d's instruction that he would have had immortality...So if it is not there then it is just speculation...And, working from what is just there, G-d had to put him out of Gan Eden in order to prevent him from eating from the tree of life and living forever....So, if eating from the tree of life would have given him immortality, then, by logic and not speculation, he was created mortal and not immortal...And it is for that very reason that G-d had put him out of Gan Eden...To prevent him from becoming immortal...And not because he ate from the tree...
