And what did the bible say about all the geological disasters like Ice Ages and meteor strikes that devastated world populations several times over the past few hundred million years?

Uh-huh.

That's what I thought.

Where are you getting the idea that disasters and wars have been increasing?
The news media might give you the illusion but wars rumors of war plagues and disasters is a a summery of history

He told us we won't know until it happens so why be alert on end time events?

According to the guys who wrote "his" words a few decades after he supposedly said them.

And depending on how one interprets "the signs."

And so on....

Semi-good try. But the Bible is about FORESIGHT, not hindsight into what already happened between 10,000+ and over a million years ago. The end of Ice Age was also the tail-end of Stone Age, when there was no written language, nothing recorded.

Fear of God is to an extent applicable in the church teaching , but once you cross the line on feeding the clueless flock not withstanding a totally disconnected secular empty tank you can compound fear and in fairness the fear can be directed to family and their security . Will I see my child graduate, become married as end times threatens all our futures as we picture ourselves living a medeviel survival existence , incompacitating injuries, or even death by a natural disaster let's say all forthcoming in scripture. Selling end times as a blessing a privilege to know Gods plan isn't all that comforting . So rather than shove harbingers, Shemitah, Blood Moons, earthquakes in diverse places most no nterested, not read, not caring, not informed the church could just teach basic preparation ( survival basics) and don't dwell on the specifics as they are babies in endtimes and you need to tactfully get them ready and present a "just in case" your caught in a disaster ? If we can save the millions of dummies for end times we fulfill a huge gap up encouraging food and water storage at least.

That depends on who has a book to sell. Hal Lindsay made himself a very wealthy man telling the fundamentalists he could interpret the signs. Now John Hagee is raking in the cash doing the same thing.

Appealing to religious superstitions is a very easy way to separate people from their money. The people who sell The End Is Near know that better than anyone else.

Truth about guns: You don't need one to rob people.
