Well looks like the Christian baker debacle isn't just in the US. Bakers overseas are the same facing moral conflict with being told they have to bake cakes with pro-gay messages.
Patrick Stewart pretty much nailed why it is wrong to punish Christian bakers for standing up for their morals:
Quote:
It was not because it was a gay couple that they objected, it was not because they were celebrating some sort of marriage or an agreement between them," he said. "It was the actual words on the cake they objected to. Because they found the words offensive.
That's right. Discrimination is something that is directed at a person's identity. These bakers are not offended by the person. They are offended by the message and being force to show support to immoral gay weddings. Bravo to Mr. Stewart for having the courage to speak out on this controversial issue.

Absolutely correct. Wording on the cake would fall under "custom work" if it is non standard such as "Happy Birthday," and custom work should always be at the discretion of the creator of the item.
I honestly think that being drawn into the Hatfield's vs. the McCoy's is about all we are doing when we focus on these social battles. They seem rather silly when you get right down to it. I don't care who bakes a cake and who doesn't bake a cake for whom. It's not important in the scheme of things. I am more concerned with the creeping police state tightening its noose around all of us. The Hatfield's and McCoys need to learn to be kind to one another and become allies against the BEAST.

That would be great. But so many are thinking they will never be caught up in the noose. So many believe only the deserving and "guilty" are rounded up, so they cannot see themselves getting involved.
Seems no one wants to admit we are ALL, every one of us, in the same boat, heading towards the Niagra Falls.

Be like everybody else. Make money off of stupid. open a gay bakery and claim how righteous you are. For 5$ extra you get a pin with gay bakers pride on it.
bakers can and should be allowed to sell to who they want. tell the gays to open their own bakery.
Be careful what you wish for. These discrimination laws can work against gay people too. If you are going to say bakers have to comply with the customer's wishes then that includes writing messages on a cake that isn't pro-gay.
I wonder how Stewarts long time gay friend Ian McKellen feels about this... Haven't found any reaction articles yet.
Fox News just picked it up. This might end up blowing up in Stewart's face given the how Hollywood and the media rips anyone apart who dares says something critical of homosexuality.
