God hovers over the deep and says let there be light and the light is good and God calls the light day and the darkness night. There was an evening and there was a morning - the first day.
The sun however, is not created until day 4. How can you have a daytime and nighttime without the sun?
Plus, it seems the Earth is created before the rest of the universe. It says on day 4 the sun, moon and stars are created.
Early humans and their myths reflected an Earth centric, no, a human centric, understanding of the universe. We get now that this might not be as reasonable as we once thought. Genesis should not be taken as being literally true in the modern age.
I can accept that light existed before the sun, though do not accept that notion that night and day exist without it, but there's no reason to believe that even if light existed here before the sun that early humans would have any knowledge of it.
Genesis is a story. It's a story worth telling, but in the same way that Harry Potter is worth reading. You might learn something, but it won't be the right thing if you take every word of it as being literally true.
Wait....are you saying you are a troll? I certainly wasn't calling you one...but you seem to be suggesting that you are.
No, he's not a troll. He's a regular poster and friend to many Christians who post here. Admit it, Vizio, your post was a silly snipe. Would you have corrected those you like for typing 'RevelationS' ?

Hello zero. It sounds like you are truly interested in the truth. How is it that God lit up the Earth on the first day but didn't create the sun until the fourth day? First of all the Scriptures are written in Hebrew. So let's see what the words were used in the original Hebrew. First the word ore was used in Genesis 1:3 this word does not mean an object that emits light. It means illumination, enlightenment. When the Bible says God is light it says Elohim is(owr). In Genesis1:14. We see an entirely different word is used for light here. Here the Hebrew word is(maorot).maor means an object that emits light(maorot)is plural. Look it up you'll find that what I say is true. I know that on this forum there a lot of unbelievers that want to put down anything that the Scripture says and try to make the Bible untrue.

Actually the Sun existed before day 1 as did all the Stars. VS 4 does not say anything about them being created, he was speaking of light and darkness ON the earth.
KJV Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
This was before Day 1 which has to do only with the earth.
Then we read:
3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. {the light from...: Heb. between the light and between the darkness}
5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
He did not say let there be a Sun, rather let there be light, so the light reached the earth.
2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
VS 5 ends the 1st day of activity ON earth.
5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
Did the earth start to rotate then, was it just the time for light to reach it, was it then that the Sun ( A Star) started to burn? It doesn't say.
Just reading it gives the answer. Looks like very few here did.
