Which is the only purpose the earth exisits. God has a little more resourcefullness in managing the earth resources than we ever will. That was the point of the population numbers. But I'm not saying that we shouldn't be a good steward, only that we are part of the creation.....the creator is who will keep the balances of heat\cold, plenty\needfull, rain\drought to the amounts and to whom He chooses to give it.
Read Job 38 and 39. Read what God says he controls:
(God speaking)
"when I said, 'This far you may come and no farther;
here is where your proud waves halt'?"
"Have you entered the storehouses of the snow
or seen the storehouses of the hail
which I reserve for times of trouble,
for days of war and battle?
What is the way to the place where the lightning is dispersed,
or the place where the east winds are scattered over the earth?
Who cuts a channel for the torrents of rain,
and a path for the thunderstorm
to water a land where no man lives,
a desert with no one in it,
Does the rain have a father?
Who fathers the drops of dew?
Who gives birth to the frost from the heavens
when the waters become hard as stone,
when the surface of the deep is frozen?
Can you bring forth the constellations in their seasons
Do you send the lightning bolts on their way?
Do they report to you, 'Here we are'
Who has the wisdom to count the clouds?
Who can tip over the water jars of the heavens
IMO, God is very much in controll of nature and the universe. God permits nations to rise and fall, he is knows how many hairs you have on your head. The created will not be above the creator. Humans do not possess the ability to destroy this planet, let alone alter hurricans, make an "ice-age" appear, increase sun spot activity, warm the earth to have an "ice-age meltdown" alter asteriod orbits, as the enviromentists think. That is no different than the over-population scare.
Its being lovers of pleasure instead of lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. (2 Timothy 3:5)
Yah, I think he is as well just not overly so. Meaning that he's not a control freak, and does allow a pretty good amount of control to be alloted to his creations. All of this of course, he allows to eventually work for his glory and for the good of those who Love him.
Maybe things like the antibiotic resistant bacteria, e-boli and AIDS is one of his attempts to try and control the unlimited growth of the population.
Think about how many people would be alive today if there hadn't be things like the Black Plague, small pox, or even the Flu epidemics after WWI.
How many people would be living in Africa if they didn't have a famine every now and then to thin them out? Oh, I see, that's Mother Nature doing that sort of thing. God doesn't do mean ugly things to his dear children.
God gave us free will. It is up to us to fix our mistakes, not God. We can't blame god for the abuse we have heaped on the planet. God wants us to make intelligent decisions and act like grown-ups, it's called maturity, not stay stuck at some dependent toddler stage of immaturity expecting daddy to bail us out.
If we destroy the planet, God will allow it because one of our spiritual lessons is to learn to take responsiblity for our actions and the natural outcomes that flow from them.
