Stop at red lights

Get permission from the tower before taxing on the runway.

Don't drink and drive

Don't marry the same sex......

Not judgements in the negative.

Rules to LIVE BY. If one wants to live.

We make judgements every day, and that is how we will be judged, it does not mean to not have the knowledge of right and wrong...

Where judging is dangerous, is when we judge incorrectly. So if we stick to what God wants us to know about good and evil. Our judgements will not condemn us, but lift us into his kingdom....

godspeed,

freedom

Romans 1 talks about (in my opinion) how some heterosexual Christians left the church and engaged in homosexual activities. It went against their nature. Thus it was wrong.

Romans 1 says nothing about a loving relationship.

1 Corinthians seems to have some translation issues.

Again.. just my opinion.

As in life I would encourage you to seek a myriad of opinions as we all rely on other translations of the text to build our arguments.

What does love have to do with Sex?
I love men, and mankind in general. I don't have sex with them.

Even though there is clearly biblical text that says its wrong...
Have we gone so far from common sense that we need scripture to know if it is right or wrong?

Apparently 'yes'

While I agree with much you share here, they are rules for the majority. Your last paragraph, how do you know what is "normal" for a gay person, do you really know what makes them tick? I am heterosexual and I certainly cannot imagine what it is. I forget the word, there are folk born with both sexual organs, male and female - what then? By the standards of the church, whichever orientation they choose will be sinful.

It is not natural and that I agree with, yet Christians are eager to judge this and leave lesser sins like gossiping which is mentioned "as is" in the bible.

In spite of threats of eternal damnation, most continue with their alternate lifestyles. Amazing that a pedophile, rapist receive lesser condemnation and that too is unnatural. Drug users are unnatural, they are reached out to, there are programs.

When you start to judge, where do you stop and to whose subjective standards?

Clearly the Levites were subjective. One was not put to death for adultery with sister in law, they remained childless (whatever that means) yet if her husband died and she was childless, she became fair game for the eldest brother. Even society today would call that fornication and I am not sure how many married women would allow their husbands to sleep with their sister(s) in such a situation today?

I know this was their culture and yes the culture was the bias. I wonder if Jews still practice this today?

Blessings

I think that's an odd way to put it. Common sense says there's nothing wrong with it. Loving someone responsibly is harmful to no one, and safe sex is also harmful to no one. Common sense would tell people that it's no big deal. Scripture (from what I've read) contradicts that.

That is what I often wonder about those who follow religious texts in the most literal sense they can. Without this book, would you have no conscience? You wouldn't know right from wrong just by seeing that certain actions are harmful to you or others? You wouldn't be disinclined to hurt other people without a book to tell you? (This paragraph is not all directed at freedom--it's a general comment).

To the original poster, I don't mean to sound aggressive if I do but I implore you to support your brother however you can. Encourage him to be true to himself. He might or might not be "gay"; if he is, and he doesn't have your love, support, and understanding, it will be so detrimental to his well-being. I can't say that I wouldn't have committed suicide if I didn't have my family's support when I came out. I didn't have a lot of self-confidence growing up as it was. It was so painful...I really needed my family.

Just wanted to say...we're really very much the same. You can attribute differences not to orientation but other factors--having grown up in the country as opposed to a city, or different countries. Raised by grandparents rather than parents. Something along those lines. But aside from unrelated variables like that, there isn't anything that makes us tick differently from everyone else.

Hermaphrodites. Yeah, I've always wondered how that was reconciled myself.

yes I have a pretty good idea of what makes a gay person gay.
Hermaphrodite is what a person with male and female parts is called. And there is always a dominant factor to one or the other. It is beyond rare. Certainly not anything to create a movement around.

Start a thread on gossiping, I would love to address it.

Do you really think Pedophiles and rapist are given a pass? Both of your examples are treated much more harshly, in fact they are illegal, and you go to jail if convicted of them. It use to be in every state that Sodomy was illegal, in some it still is.
There are programs for Gays, they are looked at as wrong by the gay community.

Lets take a test. Is lying wrong?
yes it is, do you teach your children not to lie?
If you have them, then I would say you do.
Are you judging them? No your teaching them right from wrong.
Having a foundation of right and wrong is not judging, it is knowing.

Your not representing that example in its true light, you've left parts out. Read it in the KJV and without pre-conceived ideas.

Orthodox Jews are most likely still practicing, unless they have received a new revelation
