Why is it that some religions use the symbol of the cross while others do not?

They don't all believe Jesus died on the cross for our sins.

even among christian churches though, there are number of them that do not 'utilize' a cross in worship--though they still believe that He died for us on a cross. most explanations that i have heard had to do with trying to focus on who it was that gave Himself up for humanity on the cross, and to steer clear of the image-issue. i can respect that, and do not see that it detracts from their devotion to the Lord.

not sure, but guessing that the other poster was referring to nonchristian religions such as buddhism, islam, etc.

I myself have not found a religion yet (still looking ) but I wear a cross just to feel closer to God, and yes I know it is just an object but I don't see any harm in it.
I am not very informed when it comes to all the different religions and really up until today thought all christian religions used the cross as a symbol in some way.

You seem very informative may I ask what religion you are?

Hi there...

Most orthodox Christians see the cross as a symbol of Christianity...

For most RCC, it is a crucifix with Christ still on the cross in remembrance of the passion of Christ, for others, it is an empty cross to symbolize the death AND resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Outside Christianity, the cross has totally different symbolisms.

Just curious, how does wearing a cross make you feel closer to God?
