"We don't want a country ruled by religion. We just don't want a country ruled by secularism."

I responded, as I do to many CD threads, because it is an interesting topic.

It does seem odd to me that you don't seem able or willing to explain your meaning of the term "secularism" as you used it above.

What do you mean? I really want to know.

Jeff, nobody cares about your religion, as long as it doesn't affect anybody else.

What that means keep your religion in your home, in your synagogue, your mas, your temple, or your church. That's where it belongs. Anywhere in the public sphere is out.

And you know why don't you? Why should my tax dollars support your belief system? Or let's put it a different way. Why should your tax dollars support somebody else's belief system?

Amen! What God wants is voluntary so laws forcing others to do or not do things are against God's wishes.

Too bad your government doesn't agree with you on that. Your government has long sought to replace the sovereign God of the universe. Look at the laws they pass and that is evident. The civil religion of government effects everyone. Therefore, I would much rather have a government that acknowledges and seeks to honor God (the way He has explained in His Holy Scriptures) than one who thinks that it is God. Sadly, we haven't had one for a long, LONG time.

Why on earth would you want government to enact laws and use the power of the government to enforce what God wants??? If God wanted to force us to do anything He would have done so. What God wants is VOLUNTARY, so laws and Government have nothing to do with what God wants from us. There is no place for religion in government.

You'd love Iran then, and their Sharia laws.

Right over both of your heads....WHOOSH!

Who defines good and evil? God or Government?

Stop trying to twist my words, Mystic. You're smarter than that.
