amen. may God bless and keep us all no matter what our opinions are on the subject of the origin and meaning of the Christmas (literally "Christ MASS") holiday (originally "HOLY day") and give us all the gifts of peace in our hearts and charity toward others (and may this often contentious thread come quickly to a quiet and kindly end, LOL).

Ya, but that's not the subject of the thread.

We can see by the secular decorations that they have a non-biblical history.
Christians too are to ' walk by faith, Not by sight ' - 2nd Corinthians 5:7
The only day Jesus himself set up to be remembered by Christians was Jesus' day of death - Luke 22:19-20
Jesus died on Friday Nisan the 14th ( April ) at age 33 1/2.

Was it the 14th? Some scholars say it was the 15th.

I think depending on what year Calendar is being used, or from what location.
Sometimes here in the USA there is enough of a time difference from the start of the day in Jerusalem's location to here.
In other words, the date time starts counting in Jerusalem. Not from here.
Starting with the phase of the moon when it is happening in Jerusalem indicates the start of the Passover.
Passover's date is Nisan 14. Nisan 14 was the passover day that freed the Israelites from Egypt.

I don't need the article and I don't need Wikipedia. All credible theologians and historians accept that today's celebration of Christmas is a conglomeration of pagan and Christian ritual. Most people agree that Jesus was born sometime in September.

Personally, I love it all. The pagan parts, the Victorian through mid century traditions, the Nordic, Germanic and other European traditions.

Like it or not, Christmas is a wonderfully joyous polyglot of traditions! The birth of Christ and church attendance are central to me, as a Christian, but I, and many others, enjoy the pagan parts, as well.

There are also people who celebrate Christmas as a cultural holiday.

It's all good.

that's exactly what they are SECULAR decorations and by definition in and of the world and NOT religious in meaning or intent. since nobody "worships" all that stuff (from Christmas trees to tinsel to lights) so what? folks who can make that critical distinction between the secular and the religious can then use and enjoy (or flatly ignore) all the secular stuff as they choose without sin to God and scandal to man while continuing to celebrate the birth of Christ (which we would both agree really did get born somewhere at sometime) and ultimately remembering and venerating His death and resurrection at some other date AND all the while before, during, and after those dates striving to live their lives in a Christ like way loving and serving God and neighbor.
