why did God create animals to kill each other? christians say people sin because adam and eve did and that still doesn't make any sense, we are paying the consequences of other people's actions, so why do animals kill other animals and people? that's cruel, that's sick, that's a twisted idea of God's.

assume that at least in "traditional" Jewish and Christian religious belief based on the biblical account in Genesis that after the "fall" of humanity due to the sin of disobedience by Adam and Eve, ALL creation would now have to "earn their living by the sweat of their brow" which in the case of the animals would include "kill or be killed" in the struggle for food and survival. in this scenario, the ORIGINAL peace and innocence of the garden of Eden for "man" and beast was replaced by a new natural order often "red in tooth and claw" and the ever presence of death for all living things that is part of what we now regard as the "normal" way of nature and life.

maybe the really hopeful thing is the other side of the coin--- that according to Judeo-Christian belief and hope ultimately this once perfect but now fallen and imperfect world will be restored, redeemed, and renewed by the Messiah (Jesus in Christian belief) and that as it was in the beginning the "wolf (again) will lay down with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with young goat, the calf and the lion will graze together, and a little child shall lead them" (Isaiah 11:6) and "He will swallow up death forever....wipe away the tears from ALL faces." (Isaiah 25:8).

for Christians, one of the most important beliefs of Christmas is that Jesus as Messiah and "Prince of Peace" came into the world to show us the way to peace and love and give hope and help to those trying to seek, find, and live that way and that He will eventually come again to complete the work of salvation for every living creature and all the world----"behold I make ALL things NEW." (Rev. 21:5).

See In Genesis 3: 14....... Because the devil deceived Adam and Eve God cursed the devil and told him ``Because you have done this , you are cursed above all cattle , and above every beast of the field , on your belly will you will go , an dust you will eat all the day on your life ``................See God gave the devil spiritual authority over the animals , and even man if man turned to the sin of the devil ...... So animals could be filled with a unseen carrion demon spirit which would kill and not eat , but then there are carnivores animals which only eat meat of other animals , where will kill and eat animals ....... Even man will go to the butcher shop and buy meat of animals for their diet , or get the protein from vegetables ........ If you ask God He will say that He has a plan , where if people kill for sport and not eat it could be a sin , and attract the wrong spirit of the world , but if man eats meat in moderation then man will be in peace with God

Is this a question that is bothering you as someone who believes that God created the world? Or, are you a non-Christian and this is a question you think that Christians cannot answer satisfactorily-- a challenge to them?

Personally, I'm not of the opinion that God created the world in the sense that you probably mean it. I'd be more along the lines of believing that the universe came forth from (was birthed by) God in some fashion. Which still leaves the dilemma of why a world that came from God includes death and suffering. The best answer I've been able to come up with for myself is that it is simply an inevitable part of the existence, growth and development of any physical life form. Not a comforting answer, particularly, but it makes sense to me.

Why do animals kill each other

Mostly for the same reasons we kill them - for food.

Ultimately, they won't. Death entered the world because of sin, but someday there will be no more death.

Isaiah 11:6-7
"The wolf shall dwell with the lamb,
and the leopard shall lie down with the young goat,
and the calf and the lion and the fattened calf together;
and a little child shall lead them.
7The cow and the bear shall graze;
their young shall lie down together;
and the lion shall eat straw like the ox."

thanks for using the same lines from Isaiah that I used a couple of comments earlier on this thread----it really bears repeating (LOL) for it's beauty and it's message of hope and consolation,---especially in regards to the present sad state of the world rife with sin and death for all creatures---but with the ultimate faith and hope that the Messiah will in His good time redeem, restore, and renew a "new heaven and earth" (Isaiah 65:17 and Rev. 21:1) where sin and death is no more and all God's creation live in harmony and love together.

may God bless you and all of us with peace now and forever.

Further to both of your replies, Romans 8.22 says "We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time."

All of creation suffers including animals, both hunters and hunted, till God's promises come to pass.
