When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened

It should say Good and evil directly above the sword

Can you bind the chains of the Pleiades?
Can you loosen Orion’s belt?

Can you bring forth the constellations in their seasons[c]
or lead out the Bear[d] with its cubs?

Do you know the laws of the heavens?
Can you set up God’s[e] dominion over the earth?

“Can you raise your voice to the clouds
and cover yourself with a flood of water?

Do you send the lightning bolts (7 thunders) on their way?

that they may go and say unto thee,

Wow, who hath put wisdom in the inward parts and in heart understanding?

' ......opened ' for then they knew they were naked......Genesis 3:7
So, Adam and Eve then gained that particular knowledge about being self-conscious about themselves.

God already said what was good or what was bad.
They had the freedom to choose to act responsibly toward God.
Eve wanted to experience ( have knowledge ) of the bad. In the ' bad ' came evil and death.
By obeying Satan then they made Satan as their ' god ' - 2nd Corinthians 4:4
They turned aside from God's divine law thus they began imitating the opposition: Satan.
Their former sinless nature, which was sound in every respect of body and mind and heart, was now prone to sinning.
I guess one could say ' death ' hangs over us like a sword.
Father Adam passed down to us his acquired human imperfection resulting in a sin-like birth defect in us ending in death.
According to Scripture Jesus is the only cure.
Jesus will undo all the deadly damage Satan and Adam brought upon us - Revelation 22:2

Acquired is a learned behavior, try not to cultivate it.
It will grow like a weed or tare in your lovely garden.

Notice they were only tempted to eat of the tree (the knowledge of good and evil is the law, but that's another story), not to kill or anything else; only what God had commanded them not to do.

It's the same today; Satan uses scripture against people - there's that law again.

Sin= disobedience of the voice of the Lord.
Righteousness= Obedience to the voice of the Lord.
With out Jesus intervention and restoration,
one cannot receive the Holy Spirit, to know the voice of the Lord, to be obedient.
Thus with out being borne of the Spirit, and baptized of Jesus in the Holy Spirit one can only sin.
Remaining in Christ is; the continued tutelage of the Holy Spirit himself. John 14;
