NO ONE is "saved" until a person dies and then GOD decides whether a person is worthy of going to Heaven or not.
People who think that they are worthy of going to Heaven are committing the major sin of blasphemy because they think that THEY make the decision - thinking that they are more powerful than God.
This same filth also applies to those poor souls that think that they are worthy of deciding for themselves that they are worthy of being whisked away in that nonsense known as the "Pre-Trib Doctrine".

I don't know what you're basing your belief on, but you're not basing it on what Jesus Himself said. Jesus said that those who believe on Him, or actually in this particular verse -
John 5:24, believe the Father who sent Him, have eternal life NOW.
John 5:24 "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has (Present Indicative Active) eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed (Perfect Indicative Active ) out of death into life.
Notice the word
'has.' It is Present tense which means just what it says. The person who believes God who sent Jesus, and therefore, believes on Jesus, has eternal life right now, in the present moment. It's in the Indicative mood. The Indicative mood is the mood of reality. In other words the speaker, in this case, Jesus, is affirming the factuality of the statement.
Notice also the phrase 'but
has passed out of death into life.' 'Has passed' is in the Perfect Indicative Active. The Greek Perfect Tense has the idea of action having been completed in the past with the result of that action carrying on in full effect. From the moment of faith in Christ Jesus, those who believe on Him have passed out of death and into life. Therefore they are 'saved' in the here and now.
It is not a matter of being found 'worthy' once you die.
At the very moment a person believes on Christ Jesus, God the Father imputes the perfect righteousness of Jesus to that person. And having the righteousness of Jesus credited to him, he is pronounced justified and will indeed go to heaven when he dies.
