Shortly after Creation, the devil came up with a tactic that has been used much too effectively on mankind ever since:

“Hath God said?”

God says:
Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
Mt 25:46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
Hath God said? “I find it hard to believe in a loving God condemning anyone to eternal punishment.”

God says:
1Ti 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
Hath God said? “How can God reach everyone? I don’t believe He can. Therefore, our salvation must not hinge on our answer to His call.”

God says:
Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
Hath God said? “That doesn’t sound like a fair, just God. Surely He’ll eventually accept everyone, no matter which way they take.”

God says:
Joh 14:6 ……………. I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Luke 9:23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.
Hath God said? “Jesus the only way? Surely there must be another, easier way.”

But what does God say?
2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
2 Thess. 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
Dangerous ground, friends. The devil's questions are subtle. He comes as an angel of light.. but there are signs. His questions appeal to our pride, give "wiggle room" for our flesh, and will always, always deny the way of the cross.

Let’s not question God.

Amen. It's the same mistake Lucifer made - and Adam and Eve... and it always will have the same result.

Proverbs 14:12

There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

Awesome thread, cg81! It is so true! The devil has been so successful with this tactic, he's hardly going to change his M.O. now. The only thing we can do is stay in the Word so that when he tries this on us, we can answer confidently, knowing fully what God has said.

Many will say to me in that day,...............................and He will say, be gone from me, I never knew you, Ye that worketh iniquity.

Great post CG81.

Some of Satan's snare's are apparent, some are very subtle.

godspeed,

It's amazing how clear and complete God's Word is. Obviously, the early church was under the onslaught of unbelief as well, as evidenced by Paul's words:
Ephesians 5:1 ¶ Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;
2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
3 ¶ But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;
4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.
5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

Thank you for your reminder that God's word is truth. Whether we in our sinful flesh want to believe it or not does nothing to change God's truth.

2 Timothy 2:14-19 (NIV) -- Keep reminding them of these things. Warn them before God against quarreling about words; it is of no value, and only ruins those who listen. Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly. Their teaching will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus, who have wandered away from the truth. They say that the resurrection has already taken place, and they destroy the faith of some. Nevertheless, God's solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: "The Lord knows those who are his,"[a] and, "Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness."

Galatians 6-7
7. Be not led astray; God is not mocked; for what a man may sow -- that also he shall reap, 8. because he who is sowing to his own flesh, of the flesh shall reap corruption; and he who is sowing to the Spirit, of the Spirit shall reap life age-during;

Young’s Literal
46. And these shall go away to punishment age-during, but the righteous to life age-during.'

Quote:

God says:
1Ti 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
Amen. God has said:

Isaiah 46: 9-10

“I am God there is no one like Me. Declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things which have not been done, saying ‘My purpose will be established and I will accomplish all My good pleasure”

Do we believe it?

Quote:
Hath God said? “How can God reach everyone? I don’t believe He can. Therefore, our salvation must not hinge on our answer to His call.”
?

God says:

John 12:32
"And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all Men unto Me."

Quote:
God says:
Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
Amen. In addition to this God has said,

Colossians 1:1:19-20
“For it was the Father’s good pleasure for all the fulness to dwell in Him; and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross; through Him I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven.”

Quote:
Hath God said? “That doesn’t sound like a fair, just God. Surely He’ll eventually accept everyone, no matter which way they take.”

24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.
Amen. In addition to this God says,

1 Corinthians 15 YLT
16. for if dead persons do not rise, neither hath Christ risen, 17. and if Christ hath not risen, vain is your faith, ye are yet in your sins; 18. then, also, those having fallen asleep in Christ did perish; 19. if in this life we have hope in Christ only, of all men we are most to be pitied. 20. And now, Christ hath risen out of the dead -- the first-fruits of those sleeping he became, 21. for since through man [is] the death, also through man [is] a rising again of the dead, 22. for even as in Adam all die, so also in the Christ all shall be made alive, 23. and each in his proper order, a first-fruit Christ, afterwards those who are the Christ's, in his presence, 24. then -- the end, when he may deliver up the reign to God, even the Father, when he may have made useless all rule, and all authority and power -- 25. for it behoveth him to reign till he may have put all the enemies under his feet -- 26. the last enemy is done away -- death; 27. for all things He did put under his feet, and, when one may say that all things have been subjected, [it is] evident that He is excepted who did subject the all things to him, 28. and when the all things may be subjected to him, then the Son also himself shall be subject to Him, who did subject to him the all things, that God may be the all in all."

2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

2 Thess. 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness
John 14:6
Jesus says, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father but through Me."

Christian Universalists do not believe that there is an easier way to come to the Father. The problem is Christians disagree on what the truth is on the subject. We disagree on what is truth or fable on this subject.

2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

Amen.

This is true. Christians who believe in the eventual restoration of God do not deny the way of the cross. It isn't about pride or the flesh. It is about the eventual subjection of all to God that He may be all in all as He desires. We believe that God will have all and that He will eventually get all. All were made for the Lord Jesus Christ. It isn't about man's free will but it is about God's sovereign will. (Colossians 1)

Another gospel....

All of these years Christianity has had it wrong. Only one group in history has it right - and they're here in mass on this board to get their message out...

How lucky can you be?

2 Cor 11:4
Galatians 1:6

Most of the Jewish people in the day did not have it right. Majority does not make something right, Amen?

but to share anyway:
Quote:

]The Encyclopedia of Religious Knowledge (1908) by Schaff-Herzog says in volume 12, on page 96, "In the first five or six centuries of Christianity there were six theological schools, of which four (Alexandria, Antioch, Caesarea, and Edessa, or Nisibis) were Universalist, one (Ephesus) accepted conditional immortality; one (Carthage or Rome) taught endless punishment of the wicked. Other theological schools are mentioned as founded by Universalists, but their actual doctrine on this subject is not known."
The number of schools in the early church that taught ultimate reconciliation is an embarrassment to many modern church historians. Therefore, they often do whatever they can to hide these facts.

St. Basil the Great (c. 329-379) in his De Asceticis wrote: "The mass of men (Christians) say that there is to be an end of punishment to those who are punished." I point out that he is not classified as a Universalist.
