There are too many verses that address the profile of a fool ,but here are some gems. By definition a fool ( which I have been one at times lol) is a person lacking judgment or prudence . Failing to take wise action in his/her life. A Godless fool though says in his/her heart THAT THERE IS NO GOD! They are corrupt and their deeds are vile!
Corrupt Psalm 14:1 53:1
Unjust Jeremiah 17:11
Deceptive Proverbs 14:8
Vile Deeds Psalm 14:1
Rebellious Psalm 107:17
Ungodliness Isaiah 32:6
Complacent
(to evil) Proverbs 13:19
Detests Change
(from evil) Proverbs 13:19
Pleasure in evil Proverbs 10:23
Ignorant of
(good) Jerimiah 4:22
Lacks Under-
standing Proverbs 18:2
Lacks Wisdom Proverbs 1:7
Hates Know-
ledge Proverbs 1:22

For prepper christians and non christians LACKS HOW TO TAKE WARNINGS Ecclesiastes 4:13

Agreed. All except I think the verse is more accurately translated, "the fool in his heart, says, NO, G-d". Either way, though the reaping is roughly the same. Peace

Are you then suggesting that all actions by non-Christians are vile and corrupt?

In Matthew 5:22 Jesus said ``But who ever says. `You fool!` , shall be in danger of hell fire .........................which would mean people who call a man a fool and reject his belief in Christianity , as Jesus is the author of Christianity

It's just too broad. Injustice and pleasure in evil (1) may be condemned but it doesn't make a person a fool. Lacking understanding...well, all of us can learn, and it is just as foolish for the other person to look down on another just because they may be more expert in a particular subject.

Hates knowledge is one I'd agree with. A fool is one who, having their misunderstanding corrected, refuses to listen and prefers their ignorance. Where we would disagree of course is on what knowledge and ignorance is.

I'll pass over the referencing of the OT when the NT pretty much makes all that obsolete apart from what Jesus specifically endorses...give or take some metaphors like Eden and the Flood, which he must have known weren't true, and show what Jesus considered knowledge and ignorance.

Luke 10:21 At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.

Yep. Believing that one is inspired with the truth..not just the "Truth" (Faith) but correct facts, and that human knowledge is foolish ignorance. Thus information and understanding and explanation is all dismissed and reliance is put upon one's faith - based beliefs.

So there we have it. Wisdom and foolishness are reversed in meaning and foolishness is called wisdom and knowledge and understanding are called foolishness.

"The words of this wizard stand on their heads." Gimli (LoR -T.T)

In the same way the appeal to read the Bible with an open mind is words standing on their heads. A really open mind would see the problems, contradictions, absurdities and clumsy invention. But that is dismissed as closed -minded bias against what is called 'open -mindedness': unquestioning acceptance of everything on faith and dismissing any questions and doubts out of hand. That is the epitome of wilful ignorance and applies all the way from he Creation -claims to what Paul was really talking about.

Ignorance is excusable, but when the explanations are made, the information put forward, to dismiss that and rely on faith is ignorance, closed -mindedness and indeed foolishness.

And we know why, because so often, in fact overwhelmingly often, understanding of the Bible and the claims it makes collapse under scrutiny and the investigator comes to disbelieve. And disbelief in those claims is called 'foolishness' (not having faith) by those who do believe, either through ignorance or through wilful ignorance.

Because in all the debates I have had, there comes a time where the other side has a choice - to go with the evidence or to reject it and rely on Faith. Whether this coes as 'You just don't want to believe - well, you'll answer to God some time'
or "This is just human knowledge - the scientists are always changing their minds'.
or ""Maybe this or that happened - there is probably some explanation".
or even less relevant arguments like appeal to numbers, or how old the Bible is or how many translations it has gone into.

This doesn't alter the fact that the way the evidence points is rejected in favour of believing that a much less likely explanation is - not only the preferred one but to be taken as reliable -life -changing fact.

That indeed is foolishness.

(1) unless by a good, faithful Christian like George Patton. Then God answers his prayers and sends good weather so he he can call in airstrikes.

just curious, if the verse is wrongly translated, you have a degree in Latin and or Greek to render the correct translation?

To be fair, it isn't needed. There are plenty of online interlinear Bibles, and I find that even the KJV is ok to work from. Though occasionally (e.g the grammar of 'pro' in Luke 2.2) you need an expert opinion. I have a distrust of the ploy (seems an American favorite) of deflecting questions with "are you a qualified expert in this subject?"

A fool is someone who believes a book compiled by a bunch of long-dead, anonymous scribes a few thousand years ago is the inerrant word of god.
