Yes, some people run on pure emotion, and what sounds good and correct to their human ears. God ordered the Amalekites taken out because He foresaw what would happen if they were allowed to be around. Sure enough, Saul failed to fulfill the order, and the future Amalekites tried to exterminate the entire Jewish nation.
Do you think the prince of peace would have ordered the same thing ?.

Why didn't the OT god take them out with a mini-flood or earthquake?
So, God had no other recourse than to have the Israelites barbarically slaughter them? How about the old fashioned turning them all into pillars of salt, or the old standby sending of plagues? These are no more silly than a supposed omnipotent being dependent upon the actions of lowly humans to do his bidding. So, now we have average individuals (I assume) defending murder and genocide. And, people ask what is bad about religion.
I hope you are not losing any sleep wondering why God didn't turn them into salt.
The problem is, you don't know the depths of His love, you think it's just an oohy goohy emotion like that of man, and what looks evil to you (as Omega brought out in his post), is not when G-d does it. For one thing, His love is NOT an emotion to begin with, it's a Spirit and whatever that Spirit says to do is righteous regardless of what it looks like in the appearance realm we live in.
Here is what living and dying in this realm is to G-d. He breathes out (we are born here), He breathes in (we leave here/die). The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away; blessed be the name of the Lord. Peace
Why don't you go ahead and answer the question I asked some pages back:

If the spirit you or Rbbi listen to tell you to kill another, what will you do? Kill? Because, after all, "God can make a seed".
If your spirit guide (that you think is God) commands you to kill, then based on what you believe about God, you would have no hesitation about being obedient (because you are all about obedience, right?) Burn a few hundred books yesterday, kill some of the people you consider tares tomorrow. What's there stopping you from doing such a morally reprehensible thing, since you believe anything "God" tells you to do must be righteous, no matter how evil it might seem?
And Amaznjohn wonders why God didn't turn them to salt..... I am sure theses kinds of questions are asked often at Sunday school.
Why did Jesus serve bread and fish, when he could have served filet mignon in pepper & mushroom sauce?
So why does an all powerful Oz, err I mean god, need mortals to do the killing?
How do you know Jesus did not serve filet mignon and mushrooms and the scribes who wrote the story 300 years after the fact thought it was best to have Jesus serve pauper's food?

Yes such incredibly foolish questions, guess that happens when you try to undermine Gods Word. Reminds me of... Romans 1:22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
Yeah more unbeliever and those who believe in themselves than the Bible are here these days.
Define, "believes in themselves". It is ridiculous religious cult nonsense to assert that not believing there's a god leads to a person believing they are a god.

Feel free to reject everything the Bible says.
