According to Jesus, the rocks will cry out!

Luke 19

37 When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen:

38 “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!”
“Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”
39 Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!”

40 “I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the rocks will cry out.”

What does that mean, the rock will cry out? I would like to know your interpretation of this.

What's more, Advent, the season leading up to Christmas is intended to be a somber time, not a bacchanal. It's actually known as a Little Lent in most historical traditions. So the Twelve Days of Christmas begin on Christmas Day and end on Epiphany.

We attend midnight services on Christmas Eve, which ends at midnight on Christmas Day. It's a wonderful, contemplative way to welcome Christ's birth.

Exactly! Everything you said is correct!! REPS for ya!! Liturgical Churches celebrate Advent first.

Then they have a Christmas Eve Service as well as Christmas Day Services!!

Thank you for your post!!

Have a Blessed Advent Season & a Happy Christmas Season as well!!

If these should hold their peace, and not speak the praises of the God's kingdom, the stones would immediately cry out, rather than that God should not be praised.

Why do churches cancel church services when Christmas falls on a Sunday?

Seems like churches are the ones taking Christ out of Christmas
I just read the Catholic newspaper for our state of Arkansas and noticed every parish or parish cluster offers Christmas mass on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Same is true in the state of Minnesota.

Rocks don't talk, anymore than donkeys or a snake.

and the same in every state and most every parish therein and for that matter every place in the world with a Catholic parish---The Solemnity of the Nativity/Christmas is a "Holy Day of Obligation" for all Catholics whenever the date falls with a requirement to attend church to publically honor and celebrate that event (just like a Sunday) and most likely because of that there is a vigil ("midnight mass") the night before and at least one mass (and often two or more in a large parish) on the actual day of the celebration (luckily just have to attend one, LOL).

in the peace of Christ and the joy of His birth and coming into the world for our salvation.

Okay , so you do not know what it means. Stones crying out was a veiled threat to the Pharasies. It means someone was going to throw stones.

Rocks cry out when they are thrown and used as a weapon. Jesus was threatening violence if anyone acted against the apostles. Either the crowd had stones, or the Apostles had stones. Either way the Pharasies understood and stopped.

It had nothing to with your need to bow and scrape to God.

The point Jesus was making is that God is worthy of praise. You say no. Again, that's fine, but claiming Jesus agrees with you is false.
