It validates *everything* that an evangelical Christian does, because he can just "pray" over a problem, so that his resulting decision has the authority of God behind it.
He doesn't realize that he is just doing what he wants to do. Or at least he doesn't admit it.

What I find funny is when they are told not to rush into a relationship, that G-d has the right one that He wants you with all picked out for you and is waiting to give her to you, you just have to get yourself into the position where He is able to give her to you...My question is, why is this perfect match ALWAYS gorgeous?...They always tell you that they prayed to G-d for a wife and G-d gave them this super-model...You never see them with a Mack truck...

They're not ALWAYS supermodel gorgeous. I know of several covenants He has made and not a supermodel among them. Peace
The biggest advantage I can see to those who i believe in the nonsense is that they are able to feel self-righteous without deserving to.
Sure, there is a difference between being counted as righteous and ones who are self-righteous.
The humble figurative ' sheep ' of Matthew 25:37 are counted by Jesus as being righteous ones.
They, of course, are the deserving ones at the soon coming ' time of separation ' on Earth - Matthew 25:31-33
