I am not familiar with any scriptures that address masterbation directly. However, Jesus did mention that we can commit adultery in our heart by looking at a women with lustful thoughts. So, I guess this could apply to masterbation unless you imagine being with your spouse while doing it. LOL

so...but, what if you dont look at porn, a woman, or even think about a woman. is it still a sin if ALL you do is masterbate?
Well if polluting the environment is a sin then masturbation can only be seen as a sin.
I mean who can say that he isn't polluting the environment?
I guess that in this light driving a car equals masturbation: we all know that cars pollute the environment and yet we still drive them.
human sexuality is not a sin. god made man upright but he has sought out many inventions. it could all be so easy for us
all, but we love to play games so we get into lots of futile stuff. we spin our wheels a lot don't we.
when i lose my fear of the big empty, people will no longer control me.
That one sin (masturbation) is a harmless 'guilty' pleasure, while driving a car (polluting the environment) isn't harmless.
That one should feel guilty about driving cars but most people don’t feel guilty about it.
Sorry SavedByTheGrace, I corrected it to read "Enjoy the body God gave to you." The concept that sex is sinful unless in narrowly prescribed ways is, I believe, untrue.
The joy and enjoyment of sex [including masturbation] is a gift from God not a sin. God doesn't put us in a contradictory dilemma by creating the pleasure of sex and then call it a sin. The sin is putting sex above our responsibilities to self and others.
2352 By masturbation is to be understood the deliberate stimulation of the genital organs in order to derive sexual pleasure. "Both the Magisterium of the Church, in the course of a constant tradition, and the moral sense of the faithful have been in no doubt and have firmly maintained that masturbation is an intrinsically and gravely disordered action."138 "The deliberate use of the sexual faculty, for whatever reason, outside of marriage is essentially contrary to its purpose." For here sexual pleasure is sought outside of "the sexual relationship which is demanded by the moral order and in which the total meaning of mutual self-giving and human procreation in the context of true love is achieved."139
To form an equitable judgment about the subjects' moral responsibility and to guide pastoral action, one must take into account the affective immaturity, force of acquired habit, conditions of anxiety or other psychological or social factors that lessen, if not even reduce to a minimum, moral culpability.
