Then by the same token, aren't Christian homosexuals forgiven?
Yes per my example. They can be adulterers, commit a homosexual rape, etc but they can be saved. Jesus shed his blood for ALL, for ALL sins for those who belong to him....except the ultimate sin of unbelief.
With that, remember that Colossians 3 and pretty. much everywhere in the bible a Christian adopts a new life, starting as a baby to adulthood. Being trained in righteousness all the time and conforming to Gods image. So the first thing you want to notice when someone is sinning to determine how to handle it, is their outlook of the sin. Sinners do not view their sin the same as Saints do.
Just as Kim realizes she needs to adhere to Gods laws EVEN IF she had comitted adultery even the night before. Of course not saying she did, but just as Apostle Paul said, "shall we continue in sin so grace will abound?"
"What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2 By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? 3 Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life" Romans 6: 1-4
Kim had a choice to either quit her job, or adhere to Gods laws while employed. I suppose she could've copped out and quit, to avoid being pressured to sin but she chose to endure that pressure and continue her duties as best she could. Commendable
What the unbelieving world does to persecute her for adhering to Gods laws is expected. It will be offensive to unbelievers. They will not be in unity with her, only the believers will. That is what the unbelievers do. No worries. She took up and carried her cross just fine. Good for her
How is she adhering to God's laws by refusing to issue a marriage license?
Not to derail your thread, but I did a search to see if you were christian and ran across a thread of you asking about how people did getting back into the job market. I assume you are older
My job is something you might be interested in, if you are still looking. Feel free to pm me if you'd like.
It is in Milwalkee too. I can find the link

Thanks again.
I was raised Christian and taken to many different churches throughout my childhood. I was even "born again" and "spoke in tongues" as it's called. It's all very interesting to me nowadays but I don't believe anymore.
Even so, I sometimes say God bless to Christians because it's nice. Like I sometimes say "as-salaam alaikum" which means "peace be upon you" to Muslims. (in case you were wondering why I did that in my OP)
Other people quit their jobs over it. She had a choice so it wasn't God's law trumps man it was Kim keeping her job trumped man's law and by extension God's law. Shouldn't she turn away from sin if she's saved? Why would it be adultery for an unsaved person but the same thing is not adultery for a saved person. If she is supposedly saved I would think she would feel a greater urge to not sin. It's a continuing sin as long as she remains in that marriage. (I guess it's really hubby 2/4)
There are only believers and unbelievers. Sinners and Saints. A Saint is a Disciple of Christ, saved by Christs blood thru his death and resurrection. A Saint died with Christ, and was re-born with Christ as a new creation. Starting as a babe in Christ growing into maturity.
It is very easy to walk in the former lusts of the flesh in the beginning as that is just habit. It takes years for a babe to grow into a mature adult. Same with a Christian. We never know where people started from. If two sets of unbelievers had unbelieving parents, the unbeliever whose parents trained them up holding to more of the values you find in the bible, that child will usually flourish much better. Some people were raised as animals, molested, abused and all sorts of things that molded them into who they are. Now slowly The Potter molds that same person slowly into who he wants him to be.
Sometimes it isn't fast enough for us.
And sometimes during the Potters molding process of that clay..well the clay can become cocky, arrogant and conceited. As they mature, being molded, those characterists tend to disappear. Become shameful to that person.
What people often don't understand is just because someone says they are a Christian, doesn't make them so. In fact, the vast vast majority of those who identified as Christians were far from. In scripture, the most depraved horrendous people did their crimes in the name of GOD. That is what I experienced in my first church which is a cult. Unsaved are called Sinners and specifically, identified by their sin. Saints are not. Saints cannot be a murderer, drunk, thief, etc...because God doesn't define them by that sin. He came as a mere man to save creation from their sins, the desire for sin, which inception is the garden of eden. God allowed his creation to inherit a very bad disease, per se, so only God can come to earth save that creation.
I NEVER assume anyone is actually a Christian. It takes a while to examine their fruits, to understand where they came from and how far they've came, their understanding of salvation and their view of sin.
"I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready. 3 You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere humans?"1 Cor 3
"Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is your[a] life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. 5 Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. 6 Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.[b] 7 You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. 8 But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. 9 Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices 10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator". Colossians 3
A non-adulterous 'sexual union ' is still, according to Scripture, as being fornication ( Porneia from the Greek )
Fornication is wrong for anyone.- 1st Corinthians 6:18
The married affair person is an adulterer and un-repentant adultery means Not to associate as found recorded at 1st Corinthians 5:9-13.
You know that is just Paul spouting off once again in one of his letters, right?
Quote:
Adultery/fornication on either part could break the marriage vow - Matthew 5:32;
You half got it. Actually, this only refers to the wife, with no mention of the husband. Typical of the misogyny in the bible.
Incidentally, court records show Davis has a marital history encompassing four marriages (to three different men) and she bore two children outside of wedlock. She has been married to her current husband twice, with a divorce and another husband in between. When asked about this "dissonance," Davis replied that her objection to issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples was not based on any sin she thinks the couple might commit. She said it was based on the Biblical definition of marriage as “a union between one man and one woman. That’s different from giving licenses to people who have been divorced," she said. The Bible prohibits divorce in most cases, but Davis said, “That’s between them and God.”
Later on in second corintians the bible outlines additional provisions for divorce as well. If one spouse abandons the other they are not held to the marriage. So there are multiple justified causes for divorce.
I think that these questions are asked when you are getting remarried in a church.
I'm thinking about the Christian bakers who refused to bake wedding cakes for same-sex weddings and the clerk who refused to issue the marriage certificate to a same-sex couple.
And what exactly is a sincerely held religious belief with regard to this topic?
Thanks and God bless.
same reason a football game doesn't allow a baseball player on the field, i guess. the whole anti-gay thing is confusing. But that doesn't mean i have to hang around the "in your face I am gay" types either.
