Think about it Jim, everything God sent Jesus to do you teach Jesus will fail to do.

He will not be able to finish what he started.
He will suffer the loss of those he came to save for all eternity.
Death will be the victor over Jesus.

Is God and Jesus really such a failure in your eyes that the will of man is greater then the will of God or that the will of man is so strong that God cannot penetrate it?

You know I have heard people talk and sing about how great is our God and how we worship a God who cannot fail and then turn right around and teach all about just how big of a failure God really is.

Jim do you really believe in a great God who cannot fail?

If you do open your eyes Jim and recognize and know just what spirit ye are off.

Ye are not of the spirit that would call down fire to destroy those who rejected Jesus Christ.
Jesus indicated there is a chasm no one can cross, once this physical life is over.

What makes you think he was referring to "physical" life? He spoke of spiritual things. He spoke in parables. What do you think of the Spirit?

Jimmie, you seem to have made it your life's mission to discount the Holy Spirit.

If you read the passage in question, the two characters have died and are in the afterlife.

Ozzy you fear hell.. Which means you fear heaven more .. YOU JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW MUCH YOU FEAR HEAVEN YET..

You don't know him or his word .
We are all getting lit up !
If we trust in him only will a new body be created for us able to live in that consuming fire which is his presence.

Still, in that story, the characters have died physically and are in the afterlife.

I'm sure too that Jimmie does not believe Abraham's bosom is heaven, which to be consistent you'd think he would, if the place where the rich guy was in was hell.

here is a best I understand it.

it is called paradise,..... which is Not the Father's kingdom thus not heaven... it is not the Lords kingdom..which is on earth and has not fully come yet. , it is the only paradise which was in death but has since been emptied of all there at Jesus resurrection.

Eph 4:8
Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. Eph 4:9
(Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
Eph 4:10
He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

the Bosom was as close to heaven as the dead/living but those trapped in Death could get then.

Abraham Isaac Jacob....He is not God of the dead But of the living, they are all LIVING in death..

awareness is a state in or out of this body.. but awareness isn't necessarily His LIFE either.
for the day they fell they surely died.. but continued in awareness and in a body of death..... and when the body is dead awareness still continues in death without a body . as Cains blood/soul still cried out from the grave . he was aware and crying out in death ..
the body may sleep in the dust .. but awareness goes on and on..
we were to learn that lesson from the fall and by GEN 2.

so to what degree of death we are in, awareness is.... but It is a body of life is the main goal and

why demons like to leave waterless places where they finding no rest...
seek to crawl inside of a human soul.. or they will take even pigs...
because awareness is and a living Body of water of even these dead and or dying bodies is better than nothing.
but of a body of His life His water / His rest .. that will never die is the highest goal..

I find afterlife means being more alive at death then before death, whereas Jesus taught resurrection.
Resurrection is Not the same teaching as afterlife. Jesus taught of a future resurrection at John 5:28 and Acts 24:15 also uses the ' future tense ' that there ' is going to be ' a resurrection.....

Jesus taught at Matthew 13:34 he would Not speak to the public without a parable or illustrative story.
Please notice the Pharisees were listening to Jesus at Luke 16:14, so that parable is directed to those rich-man Pharisees.
Abraham was their father according to Isaiah 63:16, but like Job 14:21 Abraham does Not see anything.
Abraham is still asleep in the grave - Hebrews 11:8,13; Hebrews 11:39 until future Resurrection Day.
Also, King David did Not yet ascend according to Acts 2:34, and including Daniel 12:2, 13 awaiting a future resurrection.
Like Jesus' friend Lazarus of John 11:11-14, the Lazarus of Luke 16:20 represents or stands for the common or poor people.
Also, what KJV translated into English as hell is just our common temporary grave for mankind.
Does anyone righteous go to hell ? ______
The day righteous Jesus died he went to hell until his God resurrected Jesus out of hell - Acts 2:27,31-32.
If biblical hell was a permanent place then Jesus would still be in hell, but since the Bible's hell is just mankind's stone-cold temporary grave then Jesus could be resurrected back to life, and ascend to heaven from which he came.

As others have pointed out Jim that story is a parable. It is NOT talking about eternal torment in the after life. The word hell in that scripture is not Gehenna or the lake of fire. As a matter of fact Revelation tells us the hell in that scripture is thrown into the lake of fire. That alone should tell you there is something wrong with the way you are interpreting that parable.

At one time there was a great chasm that no one could cross but Jesus came and broke down that middle wall of partition that ALL could be grafted into the commonwealth of Israel.

NOTHING can separate us from the love of God Jim, not even the chasm.
