What exactly was this story all about? I have to confess I never really understood it.
One tends to think of thieves as people who steal your TV or car, and that’s what (rather naively) I thought Jesus was talking about with respect to the money changers in the temple, but on reflection, the context isn’t exactly congruent. Apparently, it was about the practice of cornering the supply of the temple tax coins and then charging a higher price for them.
Ezekiel had changed the laws of sacrifice and who was responsible for the sacrifice.
The sacrifice falls on the head of the prince, it is not a money making business, it is that people pay a Temple Tax, and the Prince is responsible for supplying the sacrifice.
I agree, but do not be too quick to judge them harshly.
Many just don't really understand the new covenant as well as they should.
This is Gods will--John 4:22-24-- Jesus said only those living to do his Fathers will get to enter his kingdom.( Matt 7:21) If they lack understanding at this point--they are in serious trouble and all who listen to them. There will be no excuse, God promised truth would become abundant here in these last days. It has. Jesus' real teachers on earth have it.

He also warned the truly faithful and those who follow Gods laws, would be hated and despised by the secular community. to truly be hated and despised, they would have to be saying or doing things the secular folks disagree with or think is wrong.
From what ive seen, every catholic and christian church is very well respected in their communities, so that may not be such a good thing though!

The ones who are no part of this world( celebrations, voting, drugs, immoral sex, drunkenness, idolotry, etc.) And carry on the work Jesus began-Luke 10, Acts 20:20-- The one everyone dislikes. In fact Russia banned them. Learn and are taught--every utterance from God as Jesus taught man must live by.
Called a cult by this-Mark-3:24-26-- a house divided will not stand. Yet accomplish this true mark--1Cor 1:10-- unity of thought, no division.
Ones who are no part of this world do not fit in-- unaccepted--Those that fit in are apart of the world Jesus said to be no part of.
Jesus cleansing the temple is a foreshadowing of the coming of the "son of man" in 70 AD to destroy the temple. Note how (1) Jesus curses the fig tree, (2) he cleanses the temple, and (3) he finds the fig tree withered afterwards.
The fig tree represents Israel. The real event happened exactly 40 years after "Jesus" foretold it.
