1. stubborn and complete intolerance of any creed, belief, or opinion that differs from one's own.
2. the actions, beliefs, prejudices, etc., of a bigot. Origin:
1665–75; bigot + -ry, formation parallel to F bigoterie
Traditional fundamentalist Christianity is, by the very definition of the word, a bigoted religion. It of course is not alone, most other religions are in some form or fashion bigoted. Islam and Hinduism, the two other super religions on earth are two other prime examples. Fundamentalist Islam in much the same way as Fundamentalist Christianity, and while Hinduism is similar, Its bigotry is in your face as it affects social standing via the cast system.
Whats interesting to see is the way in which these bigoted religions effect the understanding of the masses who are programmed throughout their lives to follow and defend the bigoted teachings and doctrines of men ...
They call it blind faith but it is really willful ignorance and blind devotion. And the ignorance and the devotion of the masses to the precepts of men is facilitated by a sense of local and national relevance and or superiority. By being associated with these bigoted institutions, the powerless feel empowered, and the weak feel strength in numbers.
The whole point of institutional religion is to keep the the distribution of power in the hands of the initiated, while the profane uninitiated masses are controlled by their innate need to belong to or to be a part of something greater than themselves, and by the threat of being isolated and ostracized from their communities. At the same time they keep the greater population divided by sectarianism ... Whether through religion, philosophy or politics ...
The powers that be do not want us to learn to accept one another for who we are and without expectation. They do not want us to love one another as one self, despite the differences of culture or creed. They pretend that is what they desire up front, but in truth they want to keep us competing against one another.
Jesus came to show us the way to overcome the world and the powers that be in the world by learning to love and accept and forgive and prefer each other. But the living words of Christ have been twisted and have become the building blocks of dead traditions built by men for the purpose of generating fear and division among the people.
If Christians would wake up and open their minds and hearts to the love of God in Christ for all people and all things, they would begin to experience this life the way that God intended it, free of condemnation and the fear of death. Invigorated by the joy of the lord and by the love and compassion he has for all people. However, only the spirit can move within a person to produce these fruits, and until then the carnal apatite for superiority and the preservation of self will keep the mind of a person in bondage to religious bigotry and spiritual violence.
Peace ...

The obliteration of orthodox Christian teaching and truth is NOT okay. You teach relativism. Unacceptable, but I forgive you.

I am always amazed at the people who shout to the world "I don't like what you do, so here is what you should do instead" and call the other people bigots but not themselves...
seems a little hypocritical huh OP?
Tis OK, I have a brother who does this all the time....still love him, just trying to open his eyes to his own fallacy...

So Saying that a white supremacist is a bigot is itself bigotry?
So Saying that a white supremacist is a bigot is itself bigotry?
That's funny ... Circular reasoning.
No, a person telling a white supremist that they can't have a white supremist view and they must have a no-racial view is a bigot, according to the definition presented (non-tolerant of others views)
You can say the white supremist is a bigot to think the way they do, and give perspective to back your assertion, but don't go telling the white supremist how they should think...
The OP was saying fundamental chrisitans are bigots, and need to think in a more open way of love and acceptance. That is bigotry according to his/her own definition. The OP is not-tolerant of the way fundamental christians think.

He actually twists the definition of bigotry in order to suit his agenda:
stubborn and complete intolerance of any creed, belief, or opinion that differs from one's own.
I am actually quite tolerant of other religions and even of non-religious belief systems (such as athiesm). I believe in the separation of church and state, and I make a concerted effort to not discuss religion in nearly all social situations. This describes many of the devout Catholics I know.
Yet we are deemed "intolerant" simply because we believe our religion to be True.
It's time this sophistry is exposed for what it is.
The OP was saying fundamental chrisitans are bigots, and need to think in a more open way of love and acceptance.
Which is obviously true. Why else do we have wicked men like Rush Limbaugh, Shawn Hannity. Michael Savage, Pat Robertson, and Glen Beck raking in millions of dollars by promoting hatred? And you can make this thread ten miles long disputing this, but God knows it is the truth.
Period.
